Wow
Some folks will not get this........
I get it and think "dad" does too, it is just the way some folks feel about how hard earned monies which buy their largest purchase outside of the home you live in.....THEN you get to look after it AND enjoy the ride daily. The times which you have with the car makes the fun and memories which you relive and remember IF you get it. OTHERWISE it is JUSTACAR LOL

Watching this video got me to thinking.
There is nothing in my past that I can think of, that I had to give up that would make me choke up if I was reunited with it after a few years.
Anyone here have something they let go that they would want to get back or something that just suddenly appeared back in your life? And no, virginity doesn't count.

My first accordion, the Musser rosewood marimba I had only a short time or my last Tama drum kit would be nice to have back, but to answer your question Stan the only "stuff" I have owned that I could ever feel have become part of my life is my old Corvette, and perhaps my old truck too. Spent the better part of today detailing that old Silverado before she goes into storage (tonight!) Gonna miss 'em both 'til spring.
Being able to keep that old Sting Ray in my life is a big reason I work, not that I could retire by selling it .

Melting Slicks
My first registered car was a '65 Impala SS in 1978. Paid $300 for it.
It was loaded, blue/grey color, black gut and it had the 327 with the Muncie shifter, console and the big vacuum gauge in the dash that read economy and performance on the face.
It spent most of its time on performance
It was a great car for a couple of years but a victim of a rusted frame.
Sold it for parts and bought a '68 Camaro with an LT1 Corvette engine and a BW T-10.
I could go on for another hour listing all of the GM hot rods I had before I was 25.
If they weren't standard shift when I bought them, they were converted immediately

Am I being a total sap or what, but that video is damn near a tear-jerker!!!
(..... true sign of a car guy or what?! ).
Hmmm, something I'd love to be re-united with, and not my virginity???
Well, my first "car love" was the '77 Firebird my parents had when I was ~3 - 6 years old. LOVED that car, and it laid out the foundation for my love of domestic V8's, RWD, and in particular "sports cars" like the F-Bodies and Corvettes . It would be cool to have that car back, except I saw it go to scrap when I was ~7, so I know that ain't gonna happen.
The one I really never should have sold was my '81 Z28. First got it when I was 17 (it wasn't my first car, but it was my first V8/RWD). Had it for almost 2 years, then sold it when I started going to college (worst mistake ever ..... selling the car, I mean ). I've kicked myself every day since. I actually DID meet up with the current owner a couple years ago (~10 years after the fact) ... it was so cool to see the car again! ... but I wasn't in a position to buy back the car, so I had to just "let it go" (again! ).
I'm sure my Dad would love to have his hugger orange '69 Camaro SS back. So would I!! Not sure how to track a VIN back that my Dad sold in the late 70's though?!
