How much is a stock exhaust worth? C5
Hey all,
When I bought my car it came with the stock exhaust, headers and everything.
What do you think they its worth?
Thanks,
Grant

I would suspect that you won't be retiring on the sale of these items as most people I've met have at least changed the mufflers to something that is louder and gives the car more presence, especially C5s and C6s. I still remember the morning in my C3 when I was leaving my apartment's parking garage and setting off somebody's car alarm.

Yep, the boys are correct. There's piles of them by the end of Carlisle, and they go to the scrapyard!
Funny thing is, I bet if you had to buy one at the dealer, it would be about $1200.

ok, well I wasn't expecting to retire, I just need to get them out of my garage. They take up a lot of space and I'll never use them again.
I did do some searching and I found a lot of people said best offer.
I guess they are worth their weight in metal, lol.
But if someone wants they can pick them up if they deliver me a Timmies!

I'm completely unfamiliar with the components of stock C5 or C6 exhaust system, but I'd assume they are of reasonably good quality. Are any parts interchangable or usable on other vehicles?
For example, would it be worthwhile to adapt the mufflers into an ol' pickup truck or muscle car?
Last year I put new Magnaflows, stainless pipe and resonators in to my '75 Silverado. Maybe I could have considered using parts from C5/C6 "pulls?"

I have kept all the original parts worth holding from my '65 but curse having to move and store them.
Two subjects come up often in these forums, and usually end the same way:
1. Stock vehicles of any type or vintage always command the highest resale, period. Mods may increase appreciation for style, performance and personality, but in almost every possible instance they depreciate the dollar value vs. pure stock examples. If I had a newer C5/C6 I would probably store the exhaust just to return in case I sold the car. That stack at Carlisle would be a lot smaller if people had the space to carry 'em back.
2. The other subject often in question is if in 40 years the C4/C5/C6 will ever become collectible in the way the C1, C2 and (but to a lesser extent) the C3's are. It's doubtful the newer cars will be as collectible but mostly because of the lower production quantities of the older cars. In the end, collectible items are only worth what someone will pay and scarcity = expensive. As for desirability, the purchasers are typically middle-aged men who want that car they couldn't have when they were younger and broke or had kids to carry, so often they return to satisfy the desires they had 20-30 years earlier and include what was collectible or current then. But one thing is for sure - the stock versions will be desired more than anything else.

ALWAYS keep your stock parts.
Just throw it up in the rafters of your garage.
I lol at all the WTB stock parts threads when people are selling and want to remove the mods to either hit a pricepoint, or make the car desirable to buyers.

Well I might just hold onto them until someone comes by with some cash (very unlikely). I am sure I can find a place for it, or maybe I'll go back to the stock exhaust and sell the more expensive aftermarket one!
Gotta pay off the vette somehow, lol.
