You almost have to use the right lane as the passing lane now.

This is mostly a Toronto thing, driving in the US (at least the Northern US, and even in Italy, they don't sit in the passing lane, and get out of the way when you want to pass.

Here it's, "I'm doing the speed limit, I'll sit in whatever lane I want, F%^& you, I'm not going to let you pass and allow traffic to flow properly" is the motto of 92% of the drivers.
The most frustrating thing when driving!!

it is BS here, and when one gasses it get around them, then, they are the *** apparently.

I think it also comes down to people just being horrendously clueless and oblivious to their surroundings. They get in the car and they turn their brains off.

Half the population can't even walk down the street without bumping into things, wandering all over the place, cutting people off, stopping in front of you, etc. Never mind intelligently piloting a vehicle.

If you were a good driver you would be patient and drive around them, that's what I do.

Ok this thread sticks in my mind simply because it happens *every* time I go out - no matter what car. I admit that I am a 110/kph driver BUT I stay in the centre lane. This is simply because I don't want to scan for cops all the time and they don't bother with 10 over.

Now I when encounter slower drivers in the centre lane I wait for a clear left lane I will move into it.

Then the driver who may be 100m or more back and hasn't changed lanes for 50km will take affront with this, speed up, and tailgate me. So close that I can't see their headlights - and I'm in a 'vette!

I've tried the gesturing, slowing down - but that doesn't seem to work as well as the windshield washer treatment - that seems to REALLY get their attention as they have to tailgate as well as start their wipers. and as you know a**wipes can't do 2 things at once...

Since everyone wants to be in the left lane, the right lane is the fast lane.

It sure is, cause everyone wants to be in the middle and go slower than the right lane and when they do get in the left lane you supposed to gas it go around somebody and pulled back in and now they have to do their same speed and eventually 5 miles later they'll get around the person and pull back in. Soon as I get off the ramp, boom, right into the middle lane and not even rolling with the flow. If getting in the middle is your think at least do 110. I find i make much better time in right lane and the collectors.

Middle lane doddlers.... the rocks in the stream. An unnatural plug that causes traffic to swirl around them, completely oblivious to the upset they are causing. Only slightly less frustrating than left lane bandits.

The Province seems to have removed all the ' Slower Traffic Keep Right " signs from the roadways, also when was the last time you have seen a
" Yield" sign?

If they were serious about road safety they would enforce the keep right and other rules, as well as add, if your windshield wipers are on, so should your complete lighting system be on.

i think the complete lighting system should be on as soon as engine is started, last week on 427 dingbat driving with drl only and 2 more on the 401. these people should not be driving, and when you flash lights at them, they still don t get it.

left lane azz...bandits even have to clog the local 4 lane streets, around the corner they go and booom, immediately into the left lane, and right lane is empty, i always stay in the right lane cause it is way faster than the left.

Al - kickin open a thread that's just over a year old - LOL

Well I'd like to revise my statement as well - I no longer cruise at 110kph - it's up to 115 and more often than not 120 and ppl are STILL passing me.

I believe that Ontario should raise the speed limits as no one obeys them anyway, and states like Utah have a 80mph speed limit and guess what - NOBODY speeds! One of the best trips I've had; Americans drive better than we do -

And Europeans with 120Km and 130Km speed limits drive even better than Americans. This begs the question: is there a correlation between higher speed limits and better driving skill... and the inverse?

Ahhhhhh, the left-lane bandits!!! They are the bane of my existence!!!!

If I'm in right mood, I *try* to shrug them off (usually unsuccessful), but I always reflect on this hilarious video:
(...forward to ~2min:30sec for the "flat out" part...) and mock the idiots in the left lane going "flat out"!! :

Imagine how SAFE our roads would be if we had proper lane discipline and people didn't have to weave from lane-to-lane just to get around idiots and soccer moms texting-and-driving in white SUV's?! It would be glorious!!!

I've always wanted to be able to have a ray-gun and vapourize the left-lane bandits. It would be so sweet. And everyone would cheer. And live happily ever after......
