Muskoka - Port Carling Sun Aug 2, 2015
Well .. the "Drivers" are at it again, it's always good to have choices so a few of us thought about a leisurely drive up to Cottage country so we can see how the "other" half live in the summer.
For anyone interested, a couple of us (Randy, Al, Bruce) are going to take a spin up to Port Carling, have lunch at Turtle Jack's (the usual $15.00 or so price range) and then circle through Bala to that "side road" back to Highway 11.
Here's what we are thinking, best to avoid the 400 (maybe ok but you never know)
Meet at ESSO at Bloomington and Hwy 48 for 9:30 am
Head over to Hwy 12 through Uxbridge (Pick Up Al and ??)
Head up Hwy 12 to Hwy 169 > to Washago (could meet up with the West end folks at the Liquor store if you want to chance 400 / 11) guessing at 11:00 am or so)
Head up Hwy 11 to BraceBridge to pickup Hwy 118 to Port Carling
Lunch at Turtle Jack's for approx. 12:30 pm I'm guessing
We can walk around in Port Carling after lunch - lot's to see
Head back along Hwy 118 to Hwy 169 through Bala and pick up that "side road" back to Hwy 11.
If you are thinking of joining us just throw a post up so we know who's coming. Weather wise, much too early to call but the odd shower won't hurt anyone so I'm thinking it should be ok.
I think that's about it ....

If I get a chance to slip out I will try and hook up in Bricebridge (11:30-12?). Suggestion...Crossroads in the town of Rosseau is an excellent restraunt and close to your route I believe, if we are thinking of the same 'side road'.

FYI , my wife is running in a 10k Sunday morning in Minett. There is a 5k as well. All that to say the traffic and volume of people will be crazy. Minett is near Rosseau.
Might want to think about changing plans on the fly depending on circumstances at the time (lunch time and location for example)

Hope to see you tomorrow, but that restaurant sure looks expensive, are you in that crowd up there?

Hey everyone... Not that I know any of you, but I am actually heading to Bala from Ottawa tomorrow with my 2002 Z06. I will just be a few hours behind you all - will arrive there around 6 pm.
I am taking a drive for a few days and thought I would start the first night off with a concert at the Kee to Bala - The Trews play at 9 pm.
I am turning the 3 plus hour drive to Bala into 7 hours. Will be hoping for as little rain as possible.
But, now I am curious about what side road you are taking from Bala to highway 11. I haven't been in that area for over 20 years. I am sure I can work one more side road into my day

Al, absolutely breaks my heart to not be able to join up. My mother is here for a few days and requires support. If I could get her in the car I would bring her.
This is one of my favourite drives of the north country.
Hope you guys have fun. Honestly I am hurting not being able to go. Looks like a great day. Pictures we need pictures.

No we are not apart of 'that crowd up here', we will be fine with where ever you guys want to eat, I just wanted to mention that it is a great stop on a road trip.
We did a circuit in the late spring from Huntsville to Bracebridge and then out to Bala Falls under Lake Muskoka and then over Lake Muskoka on the way back and we stopped there for lunch and we quite liked it.
See you guys at the Chevy dealership, I'll be in a dark blue C7 with my buddy Mike (another automobile enthusiasts) who is here visiting this weekend. He has a nice Nissan 350Z but he is going to ride shot gun with me.
