The mild temperatures and rain have changed the snow covered landscape to grass and mud over the last 48 hours in Haliburton. The lake was frozen over but is now open again in some very large patches.
Just a weird winter. Snowmobilers, skiers and those who love the winter outdoors will not be happy this year.

And this is nothing compared to the lost revenue of business owners who cater to our sport
However, it looks like winter is returning later today and into all of next week

I don't mind the cold or the snow in the fields, on the trees and on the trails, or if the lakes and rivers are frozen over. It is winter after all and can be quite beautiful when untouched by humans. It's the slush and ice on the roads I can do without.

Never fails. I'm in Toronto for a course and there is a winter storm warning in effect
10cm of snow overnight, you dudes living south of highway 9 can't drive in snow for love nor money.
Getting out of town tomorrow should be fun :/

dry roads = vette weather.
Wonder how many vehicles I'll see in the ditch on the way home?
I'll give the BFG winter slalom's a workout tomorrow. Wonder how hard I can launch the car from stoplight to stoplight?

I'm due up in Muskoka today, but taking a snow day.
I have a 4wd truck, all season tires, all my winter travel supplies in it, but don't 100% need to go. For me, it's the other drivers I worry about, not me.
If I had to, I could drive my Sierra through 2 foot of snow

Last two nights have been "enjoyable". Just over two hours to get down tonight. They actually had snow on the 400 south of Bradford........might have to call in the army.

Just called home to say good night, still coming down. At least when I finish Friday morning, the sled will be ready for her maiden voyage of the season. Hope you are well Mike.

The open water shot is Thunder Beach, looking out at Christian Island. Second is Bayport Marina looking out onto Midland Bay.
Midland Bay, Penetang Bay are frozen up pretty good. Balm Beach to Collingwood is still open water. All up through the inside channel to Honey Harbour is fairly decent if running at speed, the far side of Beausoleil Island and out to the Gap is still pretty open. Have seen some of the boys running open water on Sunday.
The Best Western parking lot in town was packed all weekend with trucks pulling trailers, lots of activity on the trails. Myself and my friends tend to stay off trails on weekends as it's just too busy, and run the ice as we don't really have trail machines.
