Default TPMS sensors

Hello all
I have a question regarding tpms sensors.
An old co-worker recently purchased an 08 C6 from a dealer.
The car has aftermarket wheels but there aren't any tpms sensors.
Don't they have to be on the car to pass the safety before purchase?
Thanks in advance

Brian

i wouldn t think so, as it is not a safety feature, more of an option.
