Importing a C7 into Canada.

Way too much time on my hands. This is from the on line owner's manual:
Speedometer
The speedometer shows the
vehicle's speed in either kilometers
per hour (km/h) or miles per
hour (mph).
Odometer
The odometer shows how far the
vehicle has been driven, in either
kilometers or miles.
This vehicle has a tamper-resistant
odometer. If the vehicle needs a
new cluster installed, the new
odometer is set to the mileage of
the old odometer. If this is not
possible, it is set at zero and a label
is put on the driver door
On line manual is here:

In scanning the manual it is amazing as to what you can do with this car!

When you are looking to buy make sure you factor in currency exchange. I'd be surprised if you could not get a better deal on a used C7 in Canada and KNOW new ones are less expensive when you buy in Canada.

To be honest, with C7 pricing in Canada and current exchange, I get more questions on how to import them into the US..

I wouldn't bother switching out to a US dash. The main difference is the analog speedo max's out at 200 mph or kmh depending which mode your in. The digital screen will adjust between standard and metric.

Thanks for info.On the same subject i assume cars from U.S would comply with the EIS..Electronic Immobilization System requirement? Bob I have looked extensively at prices in the U.S and say a $55,000u.s would equate into a 55000 x 1.32 x 14%(into Ontario) equates to $82,000 Canadian. Prices are very similar however much more choice from the U.S ... Getting a 2015 Z51,Grey,M7,Mag ride is not an easy go in Canada, theres not much choice....

I bought my C6 Z06 new in the US and got a Canadian cluster so it would look correct from US Speedo in Flint Mi. All the gauges are also metric like a normal Canadian car.

They are licensed by GM and program the unit to your cars VIN and present mileage before shipping it to you. At the time it was $400. for the cluster, $75. for programming and $35. for shipping. It also came with removal/install instructions.

At the current exchange rate, if you found a C7 for $40,000 US it would end up converting out to roughly $54,600 Canadian, but that doesn't take into account the associated costs of bringing a car across the border (and potential plane ticket, hotel, rental car, etc that might be needed to look at the car before you buy). You can find C7s right now in the $57 to $60k range right here in Ontario, so the savings would be minimal buying in the US.
Another factor is trade in. I know in my case when I go for a C7 I will be trading my C6 towards it. I hate selling privately (huge hassle, tons of tire kickers, potential to get murdered, no thanks) and the tax savings can be quite significant too. To the best of my knowledge, dealers in the US would not allow Canadians to do a trade in style purchase.
At this current time, buying from the US only makes sense if the car in question simply cannot be found up here.
