1987 Vette Advice
A neighbor has asked for my advice on selling his brothers Vette as he's no longer able to drive it. I don't know much about C4's but I'll take a look at it tomorrow to gauge it's generally condition. Based on the photo's below, does between $8000. - $12,000. seem reasonable?
I don't have any details as of yet, other then the year and photo's below.

My friend bought one identical to that one brand new. He paid $42,000. There's some 87's in Auto Trader and they're asking from $9000-$15,900.
I've always liked those cars.

Melting Slicks
Pretty nice looking little time capsule!
Here's my thought...
1. Suggest your neighbour get the car checked out by a reputable Corvette shop. They can make a list of what it does and does not need, which will be a critical part in validating the asking price.
2. Consider taking the car to Carlisle this August. That's a few months off so they may just want to sell it sooner, but if they're not in a hurry for the cash, would like more for it (and with a +30% exchange) AND maybe have a fun little road trip too, why not???

Thanks for the replies Brian and Paul.
I took a look at the car today and although it runs well it does have several issues such as (see below and it has just over 200K.
E-brake doesn't work.
T-top glass top trim is coming off on drivers side, but has original top.
Needs 2 tires due to sidewall cracking & front rims, wrong direction.
One dash light bulb burned out.
A/C doesn't work.
Engine bay dirty, (just needs cleaning).
Passenger headlight lid needs minor adjustment.
Front bumper needs minor adjustment.
I didn't go through it with a fine tooth comb, but I suggest he try to get around $7500.00 to $8000.00 for it so list it for maybe $8500.00. I think the lowest he'll take is around $7400.00. I told me that's reasonable based on your estimate Brian.
Paul, I don't think he wants to wait to August as he doesn't want to store it.

Burning Brakes
C4's are not as desirable lately as they once were, I sold my 90 C4 in 15 and the best I could do is $13,000 and mine was in exceptional shape with only 79,000km. I think if its a quick sale you may get $7,000 or putting some work into it to repair some or all of the issues and ask for a higher price. Here's a pick of mine.
