Default Information Required - Selling vehicle to US resident

I have a US resident interested in a vehicle I have for sale, we looked at door to door shipping and it is very costly. Is it possible for me to drive it to Queenston Lewiston bridge and import the car legally on behalf of the buyer? I would then drive it across into the US and have it loaded onto a trailer for the journey home. Is this possible and if so would I require a broker? TIA

Have you check with TFX International? They ship Canada and US and crossing the border They charged me a pretty fair price back in 2012 to pick my car in Vancouver and bring it to Montreal. It may worth the call.

1-888-415-3158 Good luck with the sale

Thanks, I have used them many times as well and they are the ones I reached out to for a quote.

I would start by contacting the Buffalo "Vinny" office . Google it. They look after vehicle importing and exporting and should be able to tell you how to do his.

From my understanding selling the car to a US resident is easy. I did it last October with no additional paper work. Buying a car from US is a different story. I would just drive it across the border, pick up cheque and have a nice day!

Just got off the phone with them, because the US resident would not be there in person it would be considered commercial entry and therefore a broker would be required.

The number I called to speak to a human and not a recording was 716 843-8502

It's a piece of cake buying from the US too. Bought my own down south and helped with one just a couple weeks ago.

The AES requirement was not much fun for the US seller I dealt with.

If it is a Canadian car originally sold by GM Canada you will not get away with driving it across the border and ever getting it registered in a US State. If it was originally imported into Canada used it can be easier but the regulations should still be followed or the future can be complicated for the owners in the future. You cannot import it to the US. Get the buyer to come to Ft. Erie and drive it across to import or hire professionals to do this.
