Default No more Penzoil for a bit???

So I went to do my oil change today and I use Penzoil Platinum. Been using it for years.

I was told to grab what I can as Penzoil may not be shipping any synthetic for a while. In fact, any oil from them for a bit. It seems there has been a problem at one of their refineries and they've halted production till it's resolved.

I was told about a new oil from Europe (France) called Total.
http://www.lubricants.total.com/

Supposed to be better than Penzoil. Any one have any information of them? Until today, I've never heard of them.

Stan.

Yeah, right,I'm sure they have a "problem" at one of their refineries. We all know what the problem is,oil prices are in the tank and this will give all the oil company asshats their usual excuse to jack prices up for no real reason...

And that is honestly all that you need to do. All of them are going to protect pretty much the same under normal street driving conditions, so spending extreme sums of money for "boutique level" oils isn't going to give you any tangible benefits.

Mr Stan, I just bought some a few weeks ago. On sale too at my local Walmart in Bradford. Didn't see it at first as I was looking for the Silver Jugs which I have always only seen Pennzoil Platinum in, but I guess they now put it in their Pennzoil Yellow Jugs.

But I trust Patman, probably any brand name synthetic will do the job if you do regular oil changes anyways.

You know, you guys don't have to school me on the oils.

I was just making everyone aware of what I was told about the Pennzoil and wanted to know if anyone had heard of Total.

What I take away from this thread is the following:

1. I guess no one really cares about Pennzoil.
2. No one knows about Total.

Better to do an oil analysis to gauge how well the wear is going in your engine and follow up with changes to interval/additives in oil to match the report.

So if they put their synthetic in the yellow jugs, what did they put their conventional oil in?

Good question. It threw me off as I was looking for the Silver jugs. I guess the regular oil is still in yellow as well?

Here's a photo to prove I'm not going senile (yet)
