THE ROSSEAU RUN (FALL COLOURS)
Saturday, October 7, 2017
Depart 10:30am – LCBO Washago
WE ARE A GO FOR TOMORROW!
See you all then...
UPDATES:
Should be the height of Fall colours the weekend of Thanksgiving. The plan is to cruise to Rosseau for lunch at Crossroads (same place as last year) and then give options for folks on whether to continue as part of the group or head home while providing a scenic route back for everyone. Hope you can make it.
Last year, we had a bit of excitement dealing with the traffic back up near Barrie. Somehow, we improvised a detour and kept 30+ cars together doing it! Word is that this year, there are delays due to construction around Barrie. Rather than face another challenge, let’s group together in Washago, as it looks like a good merging point for people coming from different regions (East/West/North).
Here are the details:
Gathering Point: LCBO Washago
Address: 8409 County Road 169, Washago (Simcoe Road 169/Washago Exit – about 8km/5mins north of Webers Restaurant)
Departure Time: 10:30am
· Please do not park in front of the LCBO doors as it opens at 10:00am – there are 30+ spots at the side of the building.
· There is also a parking lot directly opposite the entrance to the LCBO.
· If needed, please use that lot and/or the shoulder along 169 (ideally facing north).
Please assume there is no restroom facility here. Coming north, about 5 mins before the LCBO exit, there is:
· Tim Hortons beside Webers
· Shell Gas Station 2 km north of Webers
It is just over an hour from the LCBO to Crossroads. We should arrive around noon for lunch.
This will probably be my last run to the Muskokas this season, so have planned a full day. For those not wanting to do that, here are options to get you back to the Hwy 400/11 fork near Barrie:
· If leaving after lunch, drive-time back to Barrie is just over an hour via 400 (or 2 hrs via a scenic route)
· If staying on, the drive-time to the next stop is 1.5 hrs (from here, the drive back to Barrie via 400 is a little over an hour)
· If staying on some more, drive time to the next stop is 1h45m (from here, drive back to Barrie would be 30 mins)
There will be directions print-outs for all options at the LCBO. As always, will make brief stops along the way to regroup as needed.
Lunch Venue: Crossroads Restaurant (At the four corners of Rosseau)
Address: 2 Cardwell Road, Rosseau (705.732.4343)
Website: http://crossroadsrosseau.com/#pure
Menu: Buffet (salad bar, main and dessert tables)
Cost: $22 pp + HST (beverages not included)
A couple of pics from last year’s run can be found below. From the feedback received, the buffet was well worth the price.

WE ARE A GO FOR TOMORROW!

UPDATES:
- Thought I would post timings so that you can plan your day. We should be in Rosseau for lunch around noon. If we wrap up by 2pm there are two options to continue. Last stop will be in Washago at Washago Village restaurant for both options. Shorter route will get you there around 3:30/4pm. Longer route should have you there between 5:30/6pm.
- Just confirmed that restaurant can accomodate 70 people within the same room. Beyond this folks would either be in another room or the outside patio (was chilly last year). If we do go over, will request that those who indicated they will be coming after the 70 threshold to please respect that those before you be given priority for seating. Not sure how to enforce that other than hoping folks exercise courtesy. Knowing the group of people, this will not be a problem.
- Meeting points for those wanting to go up to Washago together - see comment #36.
- Finalized lunch buffet. See comment #29. Cost is $22pp plus gratuity and taxes.

LOL...very last minute. PM'd a couple guys on a very early morning run and was happy for the company.
Route has some great sections IMO (both scenic and curved). Couple tweaks will be made. Hopefully, the weather cooperates.
