Lift for Garage Storage
I am in need of a lift to store vehicles in my garage. Can anyone recommend a particular brand and Canadian supplier?

I purchased mine from The Lift Superstore Oakville. Good people to deal with, all products on display. I picked mine up at their store.....with a big trailer. It's in a crate about 14 feet long and heavy. Installed it myself with the help of a couple of friends. No issues.

DaSilva Racing (of Ford fame, not the Corvette guys) sells and installs lifts. Got one from them 8 years or so ago, works great. Back then they sold a choice of US made or China made (for about $1000 less if I remember right), not sure if that's still the case.

Lift in Garage
Ensure that you have enough Ceiling Ht (min 10') and a Garage DOOR that goes to the ceiling Height, with a Wall Mount Door OPENER....

I went with Direct Lift. Call Dave directly.
I know someone mentioned they paid $1000 a few years ago. Not the case now unless you get a used one. What ever company you go with make sure you do your DD. Look for lifts that are ETL listed and certified.

I bought a Direct Lift Pro Park 8 Plus Long almost 2 years ago. It is American Lift Institute certified by ETL, which is the only certification that tests the lift for safely. I also liked how you can adjust the lock positions on it so it sits level on the locks. Otherwise, it would be all crooked on my unlevel floor. The Plus Long is also bigger so I can put it at full height in my 12' shop and walk under it. Being 6'3", a lift that has 72" under it isn't high enough to walk under.
If you want professional quality then go to babco.ca and get a Bendpak.

When I purchased mine, The Lift Superstore had two versions. You have to consider how much slope you have on your garage floor. Mine was about two inches, over the depth of the garage, about 22 feet. They recommended one particular model (the one I purchased) that was good for up to a 3 inch slope. Even two inches is a lot when you see how much of an angle the unit is on with a car at the top position. I ended up constructing a brace against my wall and securing the lift to the floor (which was optional).

My floor is sloped a lot but I could adjust the Pro Park so everything is level. All 4 posts are level both directions at all times and the platform is level both directions. Both on the cables and on the locks. The floor was bad enough I used a big grinder and a cement grinding wheel to put 4 level spots on the floor for the posts because I would have taken too much shimming otherwise.

I noticed the lifts from the superstore come with casters that can be used as opposed to bolting the posts down. Does this allow you to actually move the lift around a bit?

I tried to get my lift from the superstore but had no luck. The sales rep at the time wasnt helpful or interested in selling me a lift. I ended up getting a backyard buddy. There was/is a Canadian distributor in Niagara Falls. Im very happy with the lift and have had it for 5 years now.
