Reminds me of that evening I wasted watching Geraldo open Al Capone's vault.

Why not just phase out plates altogether? Have an electronic signal sent out 360* around the car so anyone could pick up the signal with a capable receiver to "read the plate". Easy as a phone app with NFC for meter maids or push notifications to cell phones or other electronically generated signals to receivers. Plates are so medieval with today's technology.

I just heard on CTV news a few minutes ago that the Ford government has said that they won't be eliminating the front plates.

He wanted to get rid of the Front plate, but the Police were complaining too much. Apparently all the majority of Provinces and MANY US States that don't require the front plate are such dangerous places, we dare not join them...

As much as I hate the way a plate ruins the car, having one is necessary.

Hit and runs, video evidence for crime, etc.

Why doesn’t he start with healthcare. I hope you or your family members don’t get sick and get hit with the cuts that my family member is going through now. But who knows, I assume with your comment you might me well off and could probably get private care.

The local hospital here is 4 floors with 3 floors of administration offices. The only real healthcare solution is moving resources to where they are needed instead of feeding the administrative bloat with more money.

Unfortunately that's the typical knee jerk reaction to cost cuts, and why this society will spend itself into oblivion.

Businesses continually adjust their operations for maximum efficiency. Government enterprises on the other hand always run expanding budgets with diminishing returns. It's easy not to care when the primary stakeholders are 15 million individual taxpayers. No accountability.

Our education system is a fair example. The budget has skyrocketed over the last 15 years while enrolment AND grades have continued to slide. We're paying more to teach fewer students, and not do a very good job of it at that. Sorry, but where's our money going exactly? And if continued funding increases have consistently not shown any notable tangible benefit, how much longer are we supposed to keep milking this cow? Is there ever a time where enough is enough, in your opinion?

Health care system is about as bloated as it gets. I don't have current data but some years ago the number of total employed in the industry was around 2 million, but only about 320,000 of those were nurses and doctors. Just how many administration and bureaucrats does the system need? Has the level of care increased? Not so sure. We dont have to fire doctors or nurses, or teachers for that matter. They just need to learn to work smarter with the money.

One thing I picked up on during the news was that Ontario will use "standard" licence plate sizing. Does that mean the new plates will be bigger or smaller that they are now?

Not sure about the new rule that anything above 406 advertised horsepower that the plate has to be mounted vertically and securely fastened on the hood is going to be popular. That will be ugly.

We are in H U G E Debt as a Province. A BILLION $ Per month on INTEREST ALONE. Can you not understand that??!?!? Cuts NEED to be made.
If you are in debt, would you go out and buy a Rolls Royce on borrowed money??!!? Or would you tighten down and pay off your debt?

I for one will enjoy having no front Plate.
