[Next Summer] Canada Day ride?
I know, this is waaaaay early, but if I don't start thinking about summer I'm gonna be depressed before too long. I was thinking, with the help of Greg, that perhaps we could have a Canada Day cruise to Ottawa. We could shoot accross highway 60 (Algonquin park). Then, in Ottawa, get rooms at the same establishment, and have a great time of exploring the city, and the night life. As Canada Day will fall on a Thursday next year, I figure if I post this now, if people are interested it will be easier to get the time booked off of work as we would leave on the Wednesday, and return on the Friday, Saturday, or Sunday morning. I think it would be a fun cruise. If people are interested, I'll work on getting the logistics done.

SA and I are always up for a road trip, but as you said it is a long way away. I'd love to give you a definite but alot can happen between now and then. Thanks for doing the planning!

Thats okay, I'm really just interested to see if anyone else is interested. If I get enough positive feedback, I'll begin planning.

Hmm, I think that this may have been a bad thought. Is there anyone into motorcycles here? I'm starting to wonder if that might be a better machine to have. I like going on long distance cruises, but these cars are too old for that kind of driving. Not getting rid of it, just wondering if I should go with a motorcycle instead, a lot more fun to drive to.

I could borrow Harley from a friend, won't wear his colours though. These guys are into the longer hauls as well, many a trip btn Montreal and Hamilton.

When I lived in Ottawa (for a year, in the late 80's), it seemed that the only activity you'd hear downtown after 5 pm was the sound made by civil servants who fell asleep at the wheel at traffic lights and had their foreheads holding down their car horns. I don't think it's much different now!

Had a Harley when I was 18 y.o. Not a Fat Boy, just one of those crappy AMF Harley's from the 70's that I bought from a guy down the street for $300. The bike had no back brake, but she looked real cool. I wore out a couple of pairs of shoes that summer!

I used to live and work in Boston, a/c is a being plus in the summers there as it can get very hot 'n humid, but a great place to visit with day trip to the Cape or up to Salem, if Anne was well enough could probably take you through the compound at Hyannisport to see her fam. digs.
Dwayne you might have to sit on Mike to keep him away from Ptown.

Provincetown, at the end of the cape, surrounded by sand drifts that you can surf down, there are a few other minor things about Ptown as well , great seaside bar/club with outside patio that must seat at least 200, it also has some similarities to San Fran.
another thing to consider is that Boston celebrates Independance Day with their major bash on the evening of the 3rd, to commemorate when the signing occured. One incredible party with a fire works show orchestrated with the Boston Pops.
