Meguires NXT - surface prep???
Going to do the car using NXT over the weekend. It has several coats of Meguries 'regular' carbuba wax on it now.
I did notice that the NXT is a silicone/ploymer based surface treatment. I have heard, that once done with this type of 'wax' it's very difficult to repair paint surfaces if something needs painting. Any thuth to that?
ALSO.... Does the car need to be 'de-waxed' using Dawn or some similar soap to get rid of the carbuba underneath?
It was a toss up between Zaino and NXT.. I choose NXT because it look a WHOLE lot easier to use and pending information about surface prep, looks better all around.
Opinions and help on this before I start applying it?

Glad you asked this question. I had the same one.
Red Racer is freshly washed in the garage awaiting an application of NXT this weekend. I need to know how to best prepare the surface as well.

If you've got regular carnauba on there now, you shouldn't require a special surface prep beyond a wash with Dawn (and by the way, it doesn't have to be Dawn...any dish soap has an alkaline content sufficient to disslove wax). Once you get it clean, I'd inspect the paint for swirls and if you have them, use a product of your choice to remove them (Meguiar's has several good ones).
NXT is a polymer base. I use it and like it. If you want to remove it, you can with rubbing alcohol or preferably 3M Surface Prep which is easily available.
Hope this helps.

I've used both Zaino and NXT. Wash it with Dawn and use a clar bar before waxing. I don't see much of a difference between either one of these. The price and ease of use goes to NXT though.

Wash the car with Dawn and put the wax on. Should look great.
