Whats your Favorite wax besides Zaino, the Meguiars Gold or Ibiz, or the New Meguiars Wax NXT?

I would find an auto paint dealer and look for 3M or even Car-Brite products. These are more of what the professionals use. I detailed at a dealership for a year and we only used those products. 3M is better with a buffer, but Car-Brite has some hand waxing friendly products.

If you're going for appearance as well as protection, do one coat with 3M, and then a second with a nice butter wax, Car-Brite sells a good one. Butter wax doesn't protect as well, but can really make a car look amazing.

You can use a mixture of egg yolks and purple power.

Liquid Glass. But you can't use it over wax. They suggest you wash the car first with Palmolive or some other dishwashing liquid to remove all of the old wax. The first coat is the most difficult to apply (but its really not that hard). After that you can just add layer upon layer.

Long ago, I used to use Liquid Glass; at the time, 7 or more years ago, it was about $16 a can. Now, it's $20, and they haven't changed a thing. Fairly good stuff, tho.

Did a test this past winter by "striping my hood" of a black car (no, not a Corvette---you think I'd TEST something on my Corvette??/ )

Put on: Nanotech by EagleOne, NXT by Meguiar's and Professional Polymer Sealer #20 by Meguiar's. Very clean hood, very black. Around Oct., '04.

Results: visible--nothing. Beading, no difference in/by May, '05. Shine--same. Bug splatter/bird stuff off when parked outside (rare), about the same all 3. Long lasting, equal.

I LIKE the smell of NXT and Nanotech. Plus the Nano was almost free; I paid 50 cents for it since they had this deal to refund the purchase price when it first came out.

NOw, since I have 3 bottles of "stuff" I'm set for awhile. Costco was selling more than gallon jugs of Meguiar's Gold Car Wash pretty cheap; I've got at least two of those, too. Nutso. Slightly.

I agree, Perf, there is a car care section. But I hardly go there, and I'd bet just about no one else on C4 does much either. It's good to have a relevant thread occasionally right here where most/many will see it, doncha think?

I used REJEX on my car about a month ago. Now it does not shine quite with the brilliance of Zaino, but it was a two-step application(on and off) and it protects like you would not believe. I used it on the car and the windows as well as the weatherstripping. It looks great, reflects light very well and when it rains it beats everything I've ever used HANDS DOWN. I don't even bother with the wipers short of a light sprinkle when it won't bead off. Very impressed, will use it for now on.

For those interested do visit the car care section.

1. There is a difference between wax (Pinnacle Souveran or other Carnuba based waxes)and Polymer sealants (Klasse AIO, Meguiars NXT ,Rejex, Zaino etc). Polymer selants have greater durability than waxes, but may not give the depth of color or wetlook of a wax.

2. 80% of the results are from preparation work.... wash, claybar, polish, glaze.... wax or sealant of choice is 10%

3. the final 10% is subjective personal preference based on what you want

I use Rejex. that's it on my original paint '88 in my Avitar

I've had very good luck with Liquid Glass and could not agree with you more. It makes a great base coat and then you can put somthing over the top if you want. Long lasting too.

For dark colors I prefer Souveran and AIO.
