Default california duster

I live in the sticks, lots of dust and pollen. Is it ok to use a California duster for an occasional cleaning of my LBM baby. No mud or dirt, just mostly pollen.

I've got lots of Zaino and about 5 coats of Rejex on my LMB and I use the California duster between washings, works for me, but some on this forum claim that it will scratch the surface. Hasn't happened to me--e

I have used a CA Duster for many many years. 9 years with my Miata. After 4 or 5 years I noticed a few swirlly scratches that buffed out with a detail. 6 years with my C5 and 18 months with my C6.
After years I EXPECT it to do minor paint damage!
The reason I use it, is because I rarely ever need to wash my car anymore. Maybe twice a year! Of course alot of that is due to our weather, and the fact that I try and drive the Suburban if it's going to rain. But how much damage do you do to your car washing it over the years? And what if your back is bad like mine?
I use it weekly on my C6 before our Sunday morning Corvette CLub meeting.

Pollen is just plain nasty, and it just being on the car can cause scratching when cleaning it off. Your best bet with pollen is to rinse it off.

With that said, I use a duster when the car is lightly dusted - anything more than something I can just barely see gets a spot free rinse and dry.

I rinse it off at the hand held car wash using just the spot free rinse.

Dry off by driving it.

I've used CA dusters for about 12 years now. On dark colors, there will be some fine scratching if the wax isn't fresh, but nothing bad. You'll just need to be aware that you need to wax or polish more often.

My C6 is black and I use the CA duster ALL the time. Using the wrong wax and towels will do more damage to your paint than the duster. Mine's 15 months old and looks flawless.

I've dusted my Vette's for years without any problems. Keep in mind it is for dusting, not cleaning.

I think some of those that comment about swirl marks might be seeing things not caused by Calf Duster. I never swirl my duster, more side to side dusting motions.

Never a problem with using a CA Duster. Most swirling is a result of improper washing techniques and/or inadequate polish/wax protection.

I don't 'swirl' my duster, just carefully side to side without any downward pressure.
I also rarely wash or wax my car, maybe twice a year. After a few years I began to see 'swirl' marks in my Miata and C5. Maybe it's just starting in my C6.
I'm sure that I do minor damage to the finish because of my habits, but I think mine is a worst case senario.

I've read that the CA duster is still easier on your paint finish than constant washing... every time you touch your paint with almost anything you are doing some minor damage.
