repair seat
I just noticed a 1 inch tear on the side of the driver's seat. BTW, I have a '99 C5 still under warranty but I was wondering if anyone has used any leather repair kits and fixed it themselves. I have the standard seats and they are grey leather.
thanks,
Paul.

Re: repair seat (paul4)
Last year I bought a kit from a place called magicmender.com and was pleased with the result on a small gouge-type repair. Plenty of stuff in the kit [way more than a person would ever use unless they were trying to repair an elephant or something] and easy to use.

Re: repair seat (TeeJay)
After talking w/ a friend, I took the car to a guy who fixes
furniture on a regular basis. He poked around and found
that all of the padding inside the chair had shifted
big time and that the leather had been slowly wearing
against the frame - so it wasn't just one tear but a really
long worn out strip. The guy suggested going to the
dealer which I just recently did. They replaced the entire
side panel - including removing the stiching and adding
new stiching and it now looks great! They added padding
all around and it now feels like a new seat - not only the
side bolster but the upper back of the seat - hopefully
gravity wont have as big an affect this time. One important
note is that the dealership will only do this repair for free if
you're still under the 3 yr/36K warranty - extended doesn't
count?
