Default Details: Dodge Viper and Ford GT

This car belongs to the Vice President of the Viper Club of America. The car was a pleasure to work on, and he was a pleasure to deal with. It was an overcast day, so the pictures are a touch dark.

Process:

-wash
-clay
-PO106FF with a polishing pad at 1500 rpm
-Zaino Z5 Pro by hand
-ZAIO on wheels
-Zaino Z16 on tires and trim
-Zaino Z9 and Z10 on leather

Next up was a Ford GT owned by a doctor in town. It has long tube headers, a Ford Racing exhaust, and a Whipple. This car was a major PITA! It only has 250 miles on the odometer and looked like it was washed with the dirtiest rag someone at the dealership could find. Numerous scratches and swirls plagued the finish. Not only that, but there are 4 million cracks, crevices, cubbie-holes, etc. to clean, polish, and/or dress. In the end, I spent 11+ hours on it. I wasn't 100% satisfied with it, but there eventually has to be a stopping place.

The paint was very thin, but rock hard. I corrected the majority of the defects, but some deeper problems still remain. A word of warning to anyone else who gets their hands on a Ford GT...be careful taping the textured trim pieces. While I was removing the tape, some of the paint/texture lifted from the piece. You can notice the area in one of the pictures (#4).

Process:

-wash
-clay
-PO106FF via light cutting pad and PC on 5-6
-PO106FF via polishing pad and PC on 5
-Zaino Z5 Pro
-Zaino Z16 on tires and trim

Nice cars and nice job as usual. If only the Viper was Graphite and for sale.

I am surprised the GT looks so nice without stripes. I guess anything looks awesome black, especially the lines on that car.

Zane, did you find that the Ford cars typically have soft clearcoats??

That's hard to believe after 250 miles.

Good work.

Beautiful work. Does the Ford have a softer clearcoat than the Dodge? Thanks for sharing. Hopefully you were able to take for a spin?

Sorry, my bandwidth disappeared from Photobucket in two days. I upgraded, so I'm good now.
