Default [3M 08984 GP Cleaner] Removal of Silicon Lubricant Overspray From Exterior Paint

Is 3M 08984 General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner suitable for use on
prominent sections of exterior paint?

The object is the removal of silicon overspray after a dealer lubricated
door handle hinge points. Rivers of the stuff trail down the sides of
a car.

I use 3M Wax and Adhesive Remover for items like this without issue. Can be purchased locally at most Pepboys.

Thank you for the reply.

I do not see a 3M product called Wax and Adhesive remover (do you
happen to recall the SKU #?) Searching their site for those key words
takes me to the #08984 product - looks like this

I have some left over from cleaning up weatherstrip adhesive residue.

A follow-up post to say that after being unable to locate the
Dow-Corning Silicone Cleaner product locally, I went ahead with the
3M #08984 product.

Wear gloves and work in a well-ventilated area - very potent fumes.
Dispose of the soaked cloths with care - they hold the solvent fumes
for quite some time and there may be a hazard from this of spontaneous
combustion.

After testing paint fastness in a hidden area, the car was washed. Then
a cloth was dampened with 3M #08984 and used to wipe the silcone
overspray. After cleaning away silicone residue, the car was washed
again to remove any remaining 3M product.

Problem solved, no harm done.

Thanks again for the assistance, Killrwheels.
