BIRD SHAT!!!! How to get the etching out?!?
Well while I was working out today a bird happened to shat the most corrsive crap yet on my deck lid! :mad :mad :mad It was on the car less then 90 minutes yet appears to have etched the paint already! :mad :mad :cry :cry
I let some Z6 soak on it 3 times before it would all come off and you can see and feel it on the paint. I used the clay bar to try and get it off but it didn't seem to work, perhaps I wasn't pressing hard enough.
I can't believe my luck, it's either **** or shat, but the birds are ALWAYS hitting my car!! :mad :mad :mad

You can try a mild abrasive product such as 3M 39009 or Meguiar's Swirl Remover 2.0 and then follow up with a Dawn wash and then start with some Z5.

:mad "Bird Shat" Maybe the "A" stands for acid in the Shat

You are going to need to go the route of an abrasive on this one, and unfortunately you may not even be able to remove the spot entirely. :(
As stated, bird bombs can be highly acidic and can etch clear coat rather quickly. You may want to consider covering your car from now on if you are going to leave it unattended for long periods of time.

What ? A bird shat on Ruby ??!!! Same thing happened to me . First try some Goofoff cleaner. If that doesnt work, Sal Zaino told me to try WD40 but dont use it in the sun. I was able to get it off with GoofOff. After youre done...reapply Zaino polish lok and Polish.

If you were referring to my car, no a bird has never done it's business on my car, I'm just familiar with the situation through other people's experiences and seeing first hand what bird bombs are capable of.

Do NOT laugh, as I am totally 100% serious on this one......
If a bird takes a dump on your car, DO NOT RUB IT OFF!
LICK IT, YES LICK IT OFF!!! The PH balance contained in human saliva will NEUTRALIZE the acidic content of bird droppings, wil NO IIL effect to your cars finish, IF you get to it early enough, while its still fresh, and hasn't set into the finish.
Of course you may puke while doing it, but I have seen 2 guys do this at very high end shows. I asked them what they were doing, and both of them told me there is nothing that can stop the etching effect except human saliva IF caught early enough.
You guys can laugh all you like. Have I done it? No. Will I ever do it?
Probably not. But these guys knew what they were doing.
One guy owned a $500,000.00 Zimmer, and the other guy had a $1,500,000.00 McClaren F1. :yesnod:

First of, there will be now licking it off here.
I had the same happen to my Infiniti several months ago. I still have not gotten the etching out. I suspect someone who really knows his stuff could get it out with a polishing wheel and compound, I just have not been inclined to have it done (no one else sees it except me, and I have to be looking for it). I've tried all the milder compounds and an orbital polisher.

Funniest thing I've ever read on this Forum. Anyone who would do this for a car has more than a few screws loose.
Oh and by the way, :U

Hey dudes..... I'm just trying to help.....
I reported what I saw & the explanation I was given.
I am 100% totally truthful on this....
You guys can laugh all you like, but I am telling the truth, and I SAW this done at the Atlantic City Car Show, and at the Hershey PA Car show.

Bring that tongue over here and we will see how it works on bird crap, and please stop, I am crying because I am laughing so hard. People will do anything at car shows to sell their products, was there a laser beam test too. :yesnod: :yesnod:

Is it that hard to believe that saliva is able to neutralize the acid in bird droppings? It's only the actual licking part that I might have issue with, I'd spit onto the dropping and then "lift" it off with a rag.

When i was a young boy, i once saw bird shat on the sidewalk and decided to urinate on the shat to get rid of it by applying the science of pressure in combination with gravity , to emulsify it ; do u think this might be a useful remedy in our classic car application.....or, would the acid in the urine remove the Zaino in addition to nuetralizing the PH content of the spewtum , thereby rendering the entire process null and void ???

I actually asked why didn't they do it that way, and was told that the rag would still push around the shat, where their tounge "lifts it off the surface.

At sometime in everyone's life, a person has to draw a line in the sand as to what he/she will or will not do........I think I just found mine. :U
