Default Car lift choice

I put this here since you could be detailing your car on a lift... I want to know which brand everyone has had good luck with. I know this is a very opinionated topic but rather read it here than on a vendor's webiste as to how good THEIR unit is... thanks!

I have a 4 post, 7000 lb capacity, drive on lift from TEC (Tool and Equipment Connection) in Attleboro, Mass. Very reliable. I've had no issues with it in the 5 years I've owned it. Great for detailing at eye level and for regular maintenance of my cars. Wish I bought one sooner. I have 11 foot ceilings and I can stand under the lift with no problem.

Excellent people to deal with. There is a pic in my garage with a car on it.

I have a Back Yard Buddy. I just felt it was built much better then most. More expensive but I didn't want to go cheap and cut corners especially if it is holding a car that I may be working under. Having said that I can only remember one incident a number of years ago about a lift failure and I don't remember the manufacture.

I have an EZCarlift. A bit pricy, but it works best for me. The nice thing about this one is I can set it up anywhere in the garage and doesn't take up much space when not in use. It will lift the car 28 inches which is enough for what I want to do underneath.

It really works great for detailing the car. It makes a huge difference for me since I have really bad knees!

Scissor Lift

The difference between gross vehicle weight ratings (GVWR) i.e. 6,500 lbs fully loaded and curb weight, 4,500 lbs the total passenger, fuel and cargo weight capacity of the vehicle. Choose a lift based on the curb weight of your vehicle plus a 10% safety margin (5,000) not gross vehicle weight rating

Atlas Pro 6MR is a free standing 6,000 lb. capacity portable scissor lift. The perfect lift for body shops and vehicle detailing specialists, this portable lift will effectively raise a 6,000 LB. car or truck to a comfortable working height in garages with a low ceiling. The unique design allows access to some areas on the underside of the car not easily accessible with other portable lifts.

The complete mid-rise lift includes one set (4) of truck adapters and another set of sliding car adapters. The arms can be located to an infinite amount of positions to accommodate the unique lifting points found on certain vehicles- Greg Smith Equipment -

One rule of thumb.... if the lift is priced under 3K it's more than likely an import lift, if it's priced over 3K it's more than likely an American made lift.

We carry the import for those that prefer it, and of course we still manufacture what we consider the best lift money can buy right here in the USA!
