Default Wax Only

Looking for a wax that will really give some pop to arctic white exterior on the C7 Vette.
Not interested in coatings or sealants, any suggestions or good experiences would be appreciated.
This of course assumes the paint surface is properly prepared, wash, clay polished, etc.
Thanks

Adam's Patriot Wax, if going to show the car, top that off with Adam's Brilliant Glaze just beforehand.

Pinnacle Liquid Souveran is my choice when using a wax on white. It has no cleaners and no polishes. It is a pure wax using carnauba as a base. It does have some other synthetic ingredients but not a sealant or coating. It is very easy to apply and even easier to use. Thin, light coat is best. Heavier application is not longer or better protection, it simply wasted product. Pinnacle also offers Souveran Spray Wax as a booster.

For those looking for a nuba based spray wax on any color ... try McKee's 37 Spray Wax. The glow is incredible ...

And here is an excellent write-up on Collinite 845. Amazing stuff and sooooo easy to use. They aren't kidding when they say "thin, thin, thin"!

Autoglym HD wax has worked great for me on white paint. Dark paint not so much.

OK so I will be the first. Why not a sealant? Not looking to start a debate, just wondering.

I have used a sealant in the past (rejex) and it did a nice job. Last a bit longer than wax, but I feel that wax gives a deeper shine and I do not mind the reduced time effectiveness of wax.
I have also used wax over Rejex for a bit more pop. I guess in my case just looking for something different in the wax line of products.

I usually polish, apply sealant, and then apply a thin wax layer which I reapply usually monthly between full clay bar details for a garage kept weekend driver. Is there no benefit to apply both?

100% personal preference .... traditional waxes, paint sealants, and coatings all protect paint. It comes down to the look you want, and the environment you are in. You are essentially topping when you add a wax over a sealant, its hard to suggest that any additional protection is provided. Might want to consider moving to a spray wax after washing over the sealant for similar look.

Generally:

1. Traditional 'Nuba Waxes -- depth, wetness, use oils to make paint look richer ...also offered in spray wax versions

2. Sealants (synthetic waxes) --- offer more durability, in the past they look sterile or plastic-like. They mimic wetness using gloss. Newer sealants appear to reflect better. ... also offered in spray version.

3. Coatings --- Offer the longest protection in a single application. Often glossier than any other offering. Extremely reflective. Buffing off the product is limited to high spots (over application). Product doesn't need a booster or topping, unless desired for looks.

I get good results from wax and sealant so for me it's a case of temperature.

The Collinite #845 (carnauba) label states:Surface should be lukewarm to the touch.

The Wolfgang Paint Sealand label states:Surface should be cool to the touch.

So, warmer months=wax, cooler months=sealant.

Collinite Waxes are some of the most durable offered. They often meet the durability of a good sealant. Infact, sometimes it will surpass them. (its rather interesting to study their product and original design and uses)

Seasonally I would counter and suggest most would use a sealant during the hot summer months, and a wax during the cooler months. Why ?? Because sealants have a higher heat point meaning they don't wear as quickly in the summer sun/heat.

To expand on the labels , and mostly using my personal experience, a wax/sealant/coating will work best on a cool surface outside of direct sunlight. Now certainly many other variables exist like humidity. But most products are tested in controlled environments and the manufacturers directions are based upon that outcome. It certainly is "cool" (pun) to find out your product works in direct sunlight also, and thus you could advertise it to stand out against its peers. Also some formulas, like Collinite, are thicker and the lukewarm suggestion likely helps it dry quicker and perhaps even spread a bit easier. --

I haven't tried the Collinite in cool weather. If I HAD to find a downside to the Collinite it would be the "dry" time. As you know, that's why they emphasis thin, thin, thin. And that's in warm times. I prefer bright sunlight for the Collinite and the comfort of my garage for the Wolfgang sealant. Plus the garage protects the car during the sealant's "curing" time.

This product is often missed and superior to even some liquid and paste waxes. It offers a true UV protectant in it and super easy to apply. Amazing looks and beading too.
