microfiber: wash before first use?
Kind of a trivial question for you. I am replacing a bunch of old microfiber towels, and wondered if I should wash the new ones before using them. Thoughts?

I usually don't, I give them a good shake before use. There is no right or wrong way to do it.

I often don't, but you probably should, as it gives you a chance to rinse out chemicals and lint left behind from manufacturing... and it gives you a chance to inspect them for any stray debris that may have gotten in the fabric.
Next time you buy some, take a couple and put in a clear bowl of water and wring them out and you'll see what I mean about the chemicals.
But it varies a lot on brand and manufacturing variances.
Liquid detergent, warm water, no softener or bleach. Tumble dry medium with the bouncy dryer *****. Lay on a flat clean surface and visually inspect along with a swipe of your hands.

wafffle weaves and any loop type of thread seems to have a fluffier nap to them after a wash. The long hair 'blue' polishing rags I just use straight out of the box.
