I have a PC, a harbor freight and a griots 6"da. I like the griots the best. Having the right pads is also key.

I have a Griot's Garage I've been happy with and it's hard to beat their lifetime warranty.

Porter Cable is a good start and will correct the finish , but it will take a good bit longer than the Flex. I started with the PC , but when I started doing some work for my friends , I stepped up to the Flex. Now they all have their own Flex, so they don't need me anymore. LOL. Either one will work great , but be prepared to work longer with the PC vs. Flex.

Default Pc7424

I've got a PC7424, and an assortment of pads that I've accumulated over the years. It has done everything that I've wanted of it thusfar, but I'd love to have a Flex 3401VRG, I think that machine will do absolutely everything you would ever need. I also have a orbital machine I bought from Harbor Freight, and honestly, it sucks, vibrates, is quite heavy, and doesn't do what I thought it would.

Chemicals...I stick with what works for me, the list is quite short...
Meguiars M105/205 Polishes
Hightemp Akyra Glaze, which they no longer make...GRRRRRR
Hightemp Polymer Sealant
and finally Collonite 845 wax

And yes I go through that entire process on all of my vehicles

Wash, Clay, Polish, Glaze, Seal, Wax...Every time

Best bang for the buck. More torque than the Porter Cable and will out last it. The lifetime warranty is a big plus.

I have a Flex 3401, Griot's Garage 3", and the Rupes Ibrid Nanno......I use the Griot's 3" on the Corvette the most because its so much easier to handle on the Corvette's curves, ridges, and concave surfaces! It does a great job. I really like my Rupes Ibrid Nanno to get into all the nooks and crannies....little pricey but I'm glad I bit the bullet and bought one as I find myself using it a lot on all my vehicles.

I find myself using the Flex more and more these days. It was a hobby activity at first, but these days I just want to finish the job. I just spent 35+ hours wet sanding and buffing a resprayed full sized truck. Did it with a black and decker rotary with a wool pad and the flex 3401 for both the post-buffer compounding and polishing steps.
