Default Need help...C4 rear hub replacement

Hello All,

After learning the Chevy dealership wanted to charge me over $1500 to replace rear hub bearings/ parts included I figured this is one of those " what one man can do so can another" jobs. Basically I am going to watch all the you tube videos and read my manual. But first I want to ask you all a few things.
What is torque setting on hub but 164 or 200 lbs. I am hearing and reading conflicting reports?
Should pack or just slightly lube hub/spindle cavity with high temp grease before installing new hub?
I am going to purchase thru Rock Auto..looking to pay 50 each hub..are there any recommendations or stay away from?
Last of all..I am not a pro mechnic but capable..are there any tips to make it a quick and painless job?

Any info is greatly appreciated!

Vettes Rule!

OP, you might want to consider moving this thread to the C4 General Discussion section. Unlikely, you will get many responses in the car care discussion section. Best of luck1
