Default Need advise to remove dried wax

My Daughter recently purchased a 2016 Chevy Traverse. The previous owner was not careful when applying wax. As a result there are several areas where they got the wax on the black molding. Do any of you have a recommendation on a product that would remove this?

I believe that auto geek has a couple of products that will do the trick. You can also use creamy peanut butter. The enzymes in the peanut butter will dissolve the wax build up. After your done you can make yourself a peanut butter sandwich.

I will check out AutoGeek, in the mean time I will try the peanut butter.

Thanks for the advise.

In my shop we use rubbing alcohol. You can also use Peanut Oil and not have to deal with the Butter residue.

works great at cleaning the black plastic trim..............

then finish it off with Adam's VRT (Vinyl, Rubber & Trim) dressing or a Trim Sealant for added protection and to keep them black

Griots Garage has a wax remover, but creamy peanut butter also works.

Mothers Back-to-Black Heavy Duty Trim Cleaner works real well and is formulated for this. Available online and at local auto parts stores.

Doesn't matter as long as it's smooth and not chunky

I've had success using Simple Green to remove wax from black plastic trim as well.

Wouldn't APC be a better "1st" option? I would start less aggressive then go for a tire and rubber cleaner. Granted, it's still Adams (yes, I'm a big fan) but just asking for a friend? 😏

Pink eraser that kids use in school. Get the one that is the small block. That and some elbow grease. You will be amazed.

Mothers makes a trim cleaner that will remove even NuFinish from most textured plastic: Back-to-Black Heavy Duty Trim & Plastic Cleaner -- it's in a box with a brush, available at the major auto parts stores.

Will this work on rubber trim too. Like the seals for the targa top?

Adams VRT would be a better choice for that IMO and honestly the whole peanut butter thing would just make a mess and still need to cleaned off anyway.

Foam block applicator or MF rag with a little VRT on to the rubber or the targa seal and your done.
