Cooled off to only 86 degrees today so I was able to put another coat of Z5 on my '17 GS. It really shows off the Admiral Blue in the sun!

I used to use Zaino a long time ago, and have always been happy with there products, but just yesterday I went to there website to order a $15.95 bottle of Z-2 polish (I used to really love this stuff).

Anyway, they want $10.95 shipping just for the one little bottle ... That brings the price to the door up to $26.90

Just my opinion, but I feel there shipping charge is a rip-off !

Zaino charges a flat shipping rate for all orders. So if you order 1 bottle or 100 bottles of Zaino, it is the same $10.95 for shipping.

I use to get my stuff from a zaino distributor back when I lived in San Jose, CA (there is one is San Jose). But now since I live in the Sacramento area (115 miles away) I can't get zaino locally. But if you have a distributor near by, you can avoid the shipping cost.

I looked completely through the Zaino website and could not find a list of distributors for the products.

You would think Zaino would make it easy to find his authorized distributors.

Maybe I'm missing something here ... How the hell do I find if there is a distributor in my area?

Thanks,

There are no distributors. In New Jersey I think there is an exception.

I think there used to be distributors in other states like LA Zaino, but I don't think they really sell stuff anymore.

Well, no distributors for Zaino ... I guess I will order a bottle of "Blackfire Wet Diamond All Finish Paint Protection"

For the Zaino detailers in the know, how does Zaino compare to all the new "ceramic" coatings I see discussed on the board? Do the ceramics really offer anything beyond what Zaino does?

Zaino has a nice look but in my experience, limited protection. Was a Zaino-ist for 12 or so years...loved the look (and how long it lasted) but bird bombs, water spots and other things that befall a daily driver would need to be addressed quickly to keep from 'leaving a mark'. No such worries with a quality coating.

With all of our cars coated now, life is much easier, less maintenance to keep car in shape.

Just for fun I coated one of our fleet Ford Rangers at work last February. About a month ago a bird dropped one square on the hood, so I left it for a week or two and then shot it with a hose to remove...left no mark. Truck has not been washed after application but still looks pretty clean after rainstorm.

If your car is a sunny weather only one, perhaps coating is overkill. But it will most definitely protect better if your car is exposed to the elements.

I also happen to like the molten-glass look some coatings give to the finish.

I like clean cars but don't like cleaning cars and a coating helps that significantly.

Not for everyone though, everybody has circumstances of their own. I used to enjoy waxing/Zaino-ing frequently (then I got old!) but not so much anymore; if you're one who currently enjoys that time, just keep on doing what ya like.

Budget Plan summed it up very well. Some of the ceramics look very nice and do provide added protection. They make alot of sense for people who drive their cars daily and in inclement weather, or for those who just don't enjoy detailing regularly. I still believe a coat of Zaino Clear Sealant topped with Z8 may look even better than the ceramics. I enjoy detailing and my cars are fair weather drivers, so Zaino works for me.

To me Zaino should be used over a Coating or a PPF mostly as a "touch up" or to give your car that extra "pop" when it's clean.

I'd never just use Zaino alone after getting PPF and ceramic coating on my current car (all my future rides will be PPF and ceramic coated).

your comparison is bogus. If you are using more than 1 ounce on your whole car, you are using too much zaino. I have tried the backfire. It takes twice as much product per car (compared to zaino).

^^^^True. Also, if you are new to Zaino I would advise not to just use Z2 alone. You really need to follow up with Z6 or Z8. That stuff is easy to apply and adds an extra glossy finish to the Z2. It also makes the surface very slick, makes bugs easier to remove. I use Z6 after every wash.

Tried some flavors of the month and always come back to Zaino.
Over 15 years now.
