A bit confused on clay kit
This is my first time using a clay kit. I bought what the part store recommended. Upon getting home and reading the box, it's stating I need other things. Do i need to take the wax back and exchange it? I really dont want to screw up my new to me 11 yellow grandsport.

You have what you need to clay your car. The kit comes with the bar and detail spray (or clay lube). The other items listed on the box are items optional items for paint correction. If all you want to do is clay and wax your car, you have everything you need.
* Assuming you also have all the items you need to wash/clean your car.

the clay will NOT remove any swirls or scratches, it will only remove any contaminants on the paints surface........................... swirls or scratches would require polishing to remove them, and then the final step to that process would be your application of the wax you purchased

Be sure to wax after claying. Claying may take off some or all of any wax that is on the car.
It sounds like you are just getting into detailing. Autogeek has a lot of great info and videos on washing, polishing, waxing, etc. It can be a bit confusing at first because of the other processes that can be performed and the multitude of products. However, you are set for a basic wash, clay, and wax, assuming that you also have a good car wash/shampoo and mitt to get started.

While claying does remove the contaminates, it does so after a proper 2 buck wash. Additionally the act of claying will introduce some low level maring if you're not careful. Machine polishing maybe needed to remove clay marks.
I don't think I'd practice on my Vette if you've never done it before, but it's not rocket science either. Just take your time and don't rush.

i've clayed and to me there is nothing pleasant about it . i've also used a ''nanoskin sponge'' and it worked great and was easy to use , i'll never clay again and neither will you if claying is what you decide to try . the nanoskin sponge was not to expensive , worked great and was really easy and quick . at least google it and read about it . . . peace

Since you already have the clay bar, just use it. However, once you run out of clay you can switch to the nanoskin. Here is my old review.
