Default Scuff marks

I recently purchased a 09 Convertible. The previous owner had a huge chrome license plate holder on the rear. It was twice the size of the plate.

When I removed it, there were 4 areas where the bumpers on the holder marked the paint. I tried to remove the marks with a light rubbing compound but they would not come out and I now have areas that are dull. I don't think that I screwed up the clear coat but I wanted some suggestions before proceeding?

Go to your local auto parts store(O'Rielly's?) and get Meguaire's Ultimate Compound. Milld rubbing compound is still just a bit on the heavy side

I used 3M PERFECT IT #3. It came out perfect! Then a little wax!
