Default Cross country transport for the Vette

Dear friends,

I currently live in New Jersey and moving to Northern California in a few months. Although I thought about it, given winters I wouldnt try to drive my Vette all the way.

Can you please recommend any good transportation service for Vettes? I am willing to pay extra but not too much (still a salaried guy)

Best,

Rupam

Montway Transport

Moved 2 cars New England to AZ and my Vette from CA to AZ

Highest rating out there

You’ve probably found out, put your name and contact info in one of those search for rate sites and you will be called and emailed relentlessly for weeks past the date you were even looking for service.

Montway is not the cheapest but had really good luck with them.

Intercity and Reliable have excellent reputations and are both Forum sponsors, I believe. I have used Plycar twice and would not hesitate to use them again.

I think these guys - Horseless Carriage - are out of NJ, unless it's just a branch office. If you can hitch a ride on a cross country delivery you will get a good price. If they go just for you, not so much.

They know how to take care of a car! The lift off the back does away with the problem of getting up a ramp. Check out the wood floor!

I've had good service from Passport for short-haul and long-haul car moves. They don't subcontract and they don't warehouse waiting for loads. Courteous, professional drivers and HQ staff. Pretty painless.

Thanks everyone! Very useful to have actual use cases.

I have now talked to all of the names above and one thing is common. They have a very large "pick up window". If I sign up today, then they say they can pick up in the "next 7-14 days". That makes it very cumbersome! I understand that the "delivery window" can be broad as they are taking the car across the country, but why have such a wide pick up window?

I would like a tight pick up window so that I can send off the car, then fly off to Cali and be available to pick it up on the other side!

Any views? suggestions?

Thanks SouthBaySurfer! On the pickup time, what kind of time window do they give? e.g. do they say they will pick up between Feb 1 and 3 and then do arrive in this window? I have read a few online reviews where a company promises to pick up between 10th and 12th and dont arrive until the 19th!!!
