C7 Grand sport 40 Hour Paint correction by myself
Hello,
I just wanted to share my long process of getting my car to look nice.
I spent a little over 40 hours as a beginner to do the whole process.
The white car is not the best candidate to showcase the work but I am happy with the results. White is very hard to photograph.
The car was washed.
The car was clayed and Strip washed
Then iron x ( should iron x before clay)
Then I had to clay a few more areas.
IPA wipe down
The car was dried and pulled in the garage.
I then began to polish the car and worked my way up to meguiars m105 with a microfiber cutting disc.
Cleaned up residue with eraser.
Once finished with that I moved to m205 with a microfiber polishing pad.
Wipe downs with carpro eraser after doing each section.
The lighting I had wasn’t good so I ended up turning the lights off and used a pen light made for detailing to inspect. Holding the light out but facing back at me towards the cars , my head close to the panel so I could catch light scratches. It was very tedious to constantly check and recheck this way. White is not fun to polish.
After the paint was complete I inspected it with various ways to make sure it looked good as a whole and did my pen light inspection again.
Once happy I applied 2 coats of ammo reflex , 2 coats of ammo skin, 1 coat of ammo creme. Each one is it’s own long process with long cure times.
12 Days total on the paint. A little over 40 hours of actual work
I am happy with the results. Most people won’t notice the difference on white.
I can go into far greater detail if people care to know more. This was an overview.
If anyone has tips on photographing white cars please feel free to share. I have a Nikon 5500 that i can borrow and just a new I phone. I’m working on some videos to post as well.

Congratulations! Very appreciated post!
I have one question. I have seen the ammo reflex, skin, and cream used one other place, The Obsessed Garage guy's channel on youtube.
I am a fan, and have began using some of his items like the iron x you used.
Can you share with us why you chose the ammo products, your experience applying them. How do you feel about the final results compared to other waxes, sealants, or other coatings you have used?
Thanks again! Fantastic work!!!

Melting Slicks
Very nice, people thought I was crazy that I put 40 hours in mine also. I watched a Mike Phillips video where he tapes off a 12-15 inch square, and as you did, go over it, check it with a light and go over it again. The key for me was when I wanted to get it done, I put everything down and came back another day. It tuned out like yours. Great job!!
