new Car protection
While this isnt a question on Vettes, I am seeking advice from you detailers.
We are taking delivery of a new Equinox for my wife. I want to provide the best exterr protection short of applying a coating. Any suggestions for the first detail?

Wash, clay, and then wax with any decent wax. Most of the time I use Meguiars wax as they are inexpensive, easy to find, easy to apply and remove, and last a long time.

I know you mention 'short of a coating' but have you considered Gyeon CanCoat? Goes on like a quick detailer/spray wax, gives a nice gloss and nice hydrophobic/self-cleaning characteristics of a coating. Likely 6 months of solid protection, 1 can will let you apply 2 coats 3 or 4 times a year. Very easy to use and great performance...it's currently one of my favorites for those who don't want to go all-in on coating.
