I use P21S Paint Work Cleanser and really like it. Pinnacle Paintwork Cleansing Lotion is also very good.
The P21S is applied by hand and is very easy to use. Detailed Image has a good review of the product.

Trust me on this. Meguiar's D166 Ultra Polishing Wax is absolutely amazing. It is their newest all-in-one product, or "cleaner wax", if you prefer the term. I recently finished tackling my daily driver, and the D166 handled it well. It was easy to remove all the swirls and minor scratches. I used my Porter cable 7424X and a microfiber polishing pad, but for lighter work, you can use foam pads and apply it by hand. Lots of rave reviews on the Autogeek site. This is a combo polish/sealer/wax. I liked it so much that I bought a second bottle.

A couple excellent ones to use to remove all trace polishing oils are CarPro Eraser and Gyeon Prep.
When using any have several microfibers on hand and fold into quarters. Wipe and then use new quarter of towel to not re introduce oils. A second quick wipe with fresh microfiber insures all oils are removed

Zaino's All in One is good, too. It may not say its a paint cleaner or pre-wax, but it is all the same. It cleanse the surface of your vehicle, ready for you to apply polish or wax.

I thought I'd share this... This car was only detailed from time to time. My friend wanted a better finish. I used that Meguire's " Wash Plus" wash / 'cleaner-polish' to remove all the coats of junk glazes, wiped on the car. I was amazed what I found under all that stuff, and the condition of the actual paint.

In the photo notice the passenger side of the 'bonnet', in a completely raw / un-waxed condition.... pretty bad. The center & driver's side has a nice coat of Mothers Carnuba - paste wax. What a difference.

I did not use a machine buffer... I was sort of afraid to go that deep into the paint, since it is an EXPENSIVE paint job. Hopefully, later I will tackle a real buff.
( The car is a 2016 488 GTB)

Thanks..... my friend is a bit too old to wax the car himself.... I was pissed at the detailers, that they went cheap, on such a nice ride.....
The black "glows" now. ( Good 'ol Carnuba paste wax & elbow grease)....... but..... such a nice car to haul *** in...
I am addicted to driving it...... which is why I am now shopping for a C3.... a tad affordable !!

Photo is BEFORE I WAXED IT...... ( what a beast !! especially when you do "launch control"..... E- gads !!

Bucket list fun ... It's an on-going chore !!!! The screens catch tons of little pebbles. I use the back of my hand to knock them out from the lower rear (photo) & a fine needle nose to 'pick' the pebbles out from the side/screen for the air-intakes.

( To keep in the subject).... I had to use Simple green to remove greasy residue on the bottom rear diffusers & silver aluminum panels, then a good Mothers "Back to Black" dressing ... Maybe to make it easier to wipe off yukky stuff later.

I gotta tell you.... if Corvette has a mid-engine..... watch out..... it might be as fun as this ( at $260,000** less )

** ( 488's retail at $260,000 but a full-option version is $107,000 more , as this one is) FYI
