mixing Zaino & Meguiars
as I mentioned in an earlier thread I recently picked up a 2003 Toyota Avalon as a DD. I am a big fan/user of Zaino, but it doesn't seem like they have a "paint cleaner" for some oxidation, etc....I originally washed and clayed the car, but I'm not happy with the condition of the 15 y.o. paint.
After some research I decided to buy some Meguiars Ultimate Compound and will be applying by hand (DA polisher = $150 and I hope to only do this once in my lifetime ). After applying/removing it says to apply a polish/wax (theirs of course)
My question is can I use this Ultimate Compound and apply a coat of Zaino Z-5 polish?
TIA

I spoke to the distributor (and maybe he thought heavy oxidation)....but I would call it mild/moderate. He didn't think they(z-PC fusion & Z-AIO) would do the job (saved $27 on ZAIO).

I've had pretty good luck with ZPC Fusion for mild to moderate correction. Certainly the Meguiar's would be better if you were trying to do a major correction. No problem using the Z5 after the correction with Meguiar's.

WOW!!
what a difference and I haven't added polish yet. I did a couple of test areas (and the area where my friend used the Meguiars cleaner wax) and it looks great. It will take some time, but after a few coats of Z-5 I think it will look awesome for 15 yo paint

I was under the impression that you needed to use an IP wipe or Z-AIO after using another product line to compound/polish and before using Z-2 or Z-5 to allow it to bond properly to the paint.

You are correct, the paint needs to be from any oils, (which there will be using those products). A trip to the local auto parts store and buying a paint cleaner would be the right thing to do.
