Default multiple coats of different products ??

think i've asked this before so searched for way to access old threads i've started but not smart enough to do so . question is , for example , if i use adams ''wash and wax'' , follow it with adams '' water guard and gloss'' , then put ''kenotek'' quick detailer on are the first two protectants wasted or will they be of some benefit ?? also how about multiple coats of the same product be it ''wax'' or a ''quick detailer'' . thanks for any comments . . peace

Quick spray detailers, like Kenotek, are designed to enhance/maintain the gloss you've accomplished with your full detailing. . They do nothing to detract or compromise the underlying coats. Multiple coats of the same product are normally compatible. It won't negate what you've already done unless you use and abrasive corrective polish.

You can layer wax. If you're going to use a polymer sealant, that should be the base coat and then layer wax over the top.

thanks for replies BUT i asked if the last coat negated any benefit of earlier applied products , that is , was earlier product application merely a waste of time and product not were they compatible . . peace

Okay, then to address your first question directly per the products you listed, the answer is "no". Your list:

Adam's wash soap
Adam's spray sealant
Kenotek detail spray

So, no, the first two products are not "wasted" when you use detail spray. Detail spray is meant to be a final step product that does not negate your previous steps..

Your second question, "how about multiple coats of the same product" depends on the product. In most cases, multiple coats of the same product IS a waste. Waxes and sealants bond to clean surfaces, so applying multiple coats will pretty much just wipe off and not stick to the paint. However, some products do layer well. For example, some waxes will layer on top of some sealants, especially if the wax is a hybrid wax/sealant and not a 100% pure carnauba. Both of my cars are currently protected by synthetic sealants, and both are also topped with a hybrid wax. Collinite 845 on my daily driver, and Griot's Garage paste wax on my Z06. The wax is added as a sacrificial layer, as the longevity on top of a sealant is much shorter than if the wax was applied to clean paint.
