Default Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Wax

Tried it on my DD Silverado today and I must say it works pretty good. Very quick and easy to apply. Used it only on the vertical surfaces. Gonna stick with Collinite 845 for the horizontal surfaces for now. We'll see how long it lasts. Not planning on using it on my Vette.

IMO it's very good but I've only done the first base coat.

I applied it last weekend on blade silver. Didn’t strip wash or anything. Applied as per directed for the initial base coat: wash, rinse, apply, buff.

Application was fairly easy. The product seemed much like Adam’s H2O Guard in terms of viscosity and application. No visible streaking on silver (very forgiving) but did leave some on glass. Maybe I didn’t buff off properly?

Overall, I wasn’t that impressed with the gloss. I’ve had more from other products. So this weekend I decided to give it a shot and apply another base coat. I did notice on the contact wash the first application made for very good water repelancy.

Here’s a couple pics of 1st and 2nd application. Both on kind of overcast day.

1st application.

2nd base coat application. A little sunnier day.

This resulted in a much higher gloss. Have not tried the wash, spray rinse application for subsequent applications after the base coat. I’ll try that next week.

So far, in my esperience, it’s OK. Maybe with all the SI02 hype, my expectations for gloss were a bit over blown. It doesn’t provide any appreciably more gloss than other products I’ve used on the blade silver, including H2O Guard. Maybe a little
less. Will the SIO2 provide more longevity? Maybe the spray and rinse experience will be compelling? I’ll update when I give it a shot.

As a follow up to my above post, I drove in some heavy SoCA rain we’ve been having. The car pretty much shed every drop of water. I’m seriously impressed the hydrophobic capabilities!
