Default Zaino Corvette

Up to now I have been using Zaino products on my 2005 Corvette for the last 14+ years. Would there be a problem using a car wash soap like Meguires or Rain X that contains Carnuba instead of the Z-7 Zaino car wash?
I wouldn't think anything would happen. Is there any problem with doing that?

Your paint will flake off.

Kidding, of course. Soap is soap. Use whatever. The carnauba content in soaps is miniscule. Besides, why would carnauba be bad?

So, you are saying there is or is not a problem with him using a soap with carnauba in it?

Use any car soap and you're fine. I've been using Duragloss myself but last season I only used Optimum No Rinse the whole summer. Prefer it to a traditional wash actually.

Dura gloss wash can be used with any wax/polish. I recently tried Dura gloss 105 polish and wax its a one step product cleans and protects easy on and off only 12 bucks a bottle. I also use collie 476
for the winter super durable. I hope this doesn't sound like a dura gloss commercial lol.

Any soap can be used with waxes and sealants. In fact, after spending way too much money on fancy soaps from Meg's, Chemical Guys, Nanoskin, and Adam's this past year, when I run out I will be buying some cheap Blue Coral soap from Walmart. If it gently cleans and lubricates, it is fine. The only time I would be careful about the soaps I use is if my cars were ceramic-coated. And, yeah, Duragloss makes great stuff. If you research their products, you will find that they surrrrrre are similar to some Zaino products.

Ah, the 'ol "Is Zaino really just Duragloss?" days...

Fun stuff; folks driving around NJ to see if they could find production facility, rumors, innuendo...many arguments. Funny, just got a Zaino promo e-mail today...

Yep. It is very possible that Duragloss may have done a little copying. Pretty sure Zaino was doing their thing first.

I would avoid dish soap but that's about it. I have used over a dozen or so and have found that the technique is more important than the product. I like a heavy sudsing so a foam cannon form me. Quality microfiber wash mitt and a two bucket method is best IMO. Takes 20 mins to do mine.

There is not a problem using other washes but then you potentially cover up the qualities of Zaino with a wash that contains a Carnuba. It won't happen until you have done multiple washes but it will happen. I would recommend sticking with Z-7 or a Car Wash soap that is PH Neutral and does not contain any wax/polish in it. As a pro detailer I used nothing but Z-7 for all standard car washes, Over time and many washes(10-15) it added a slight layer of polish(Z-2) to the car and began to create a very nice polymer shine. My customer base loved my car washes, of course we also did a Z-8 on the car and the results for a wash were nothing but spectacular.
Buy 5 or 6 bottles of Z-7 at a time and you have an almost lifetime supply. I would use two capfuls per wash. On average I would do 2 washes a day it would take three-four weeks to empty a bottle.

Sorry guys I forgot to check the "Instant E-mail notification box" I thought the Corvette Forum went dead because I heard nothing on this subject.

Since I have back n neck problems now I can't do the Zaino thing like I used to. Too much repetitive work. I will still continue to use the Zaino Leather Cleaner, Leather Protectant and that very expensive ZCS Clear Sealant $30 per bottle very expensive$$$$ as well as the Z-8 which is $20 per bottle. as these products appear to really work despite how expensive they are.

On my other car I have had great success with Liquid Glass Polish Wipe on and wipe off. Let it sit for 6 hrs. or bake in the sun. (It's the gold can with the pink Corvette on it that was banned in CA as it exceeded VOX limits which is why you won't find it here on store shelves. I have used it since 1979 but I am sure the formulation of it has changed a few time since). 303 works great also on that car interior but not on my 2005 Corvette door panels.

Anyway thanks to you all for your input.
