Default Pitted gouged aluminum wheels

Is there a way to remove this black pitting on the one rim, and the gouge on the other? Or is there a way to make it all less noticeable? Or is the solution new rims? (which seems to be cheaper than having these reconditioned)
Or something else?

From the pics it looks like you will need to have them refurbished by a wheel shop. The cost usually run about $125 a wheel + or -. They can make them look like new or better than new.

Thanks, I will check in to local options for that. Is there any market for these if I wanted to sell them? Seems like it wouldn't be much more expensive to buy a set of aftermarket rims.

Apparently no one in my neck of the woods can refinish aluminum. They want to ship them to Indiana for $250 per rim to recondition them which is more than I could get news ones for.

Sounds like you may need to make planter boxes from them and go get some really cool after market wheels.

Has anyone tried these aftermarket replicas? https://www.oewheelsllc.com/Corvette-Z06-Wheel-chrome
They are an aluminum alloy with chrome plate. Would you be able to mix one of these into a set of Speedline wheels or would it be obvious that it didn't match?

I have seen OEM speedlines and after market wheels mixed on the same car and you could tell the difference because of the condition and quality of the chrome plating. Actually the aftermarket wheels looked better.

Have you done anything to them yet? I think it could polish out with a bit of elbow work.

I ended up applying elbow grease and they turned out ok. Used 00 steel wool and vinegar, then washed and waxed them. I know they say don't do that, but I was ready to buy a set so it was worth a try. As you can see, they look much better, although not perfect. I have read that these have a clear coat on them. If I had to guess, I'd say the black spots were in the clear coat, and I removed them without removing all the clear coat. There are a couple spots where it turned milky white, which I guess means I went through the clear coat, so I stopped. Not perfect, but I can live with it.
