Hello,
Thats a good question. I have used this on my black 86 without a problem. I use the foam type of bug and tar remover, and dont let it sit for too long.
But then it is not going on the fiberglass, just on the paint. I dont know if it is going to penetrate through the paint, but I doubt it.
As the label says, spray it on an inconspicuous place first.

I've used automotive bug and tar removal without any hitches on my '87. My Corvettes finish is 17 years old and still looks great. Up here in Western PA, we get so much of it on our roads in the summer. Like any auto cleaner, put on in the shade and on a cool and clean surface. Then put on some wax and it's done. Fast, easy, and cheap.

Mineral spirits or lighter fluid will get the job done without harming your paint. Whatever you use, use a solution of water and Dawn dishwashing liquid as a stripper. Be advised, that will strip off any wax that you have applied, so you'll have to re-wax the area.
