Default M/T Drag radial vs. ET Street non radial

I'm looking for feedback on running M/T ET Streets instead their drag radials.

On my 97' I have gotten my best 60' time on MT ET Street........RADIALS!
New 275/40/17 on C5 OEM 17 x 8.5 Magnesium wheels = 1.49 60'
Worn out 26 x 11.50 x 16" Mt ET Street on a 16 x 10 CCW drag pack = 1.51 60'
New 26 x 11.50 x 17" Mt ET Street on an PWO Y2K 5 spoke 17 x 8.5 = 1.53 60'
New 345/30/18 bfg dr on HRE 545 18 x 12 wheel = 1.52 60'
I have over 150 passes on these set-ups together and at different tracks....
I find the DRs better..........more stable at speed and I have driven them 450+ miles one way to race w/o issue.
I do not have a tire fetish

Any difference in overall ET?

I ran both tires on my Z06.
I had the same ET's with both tires, but I was way, way more consistent with the ET Streets. If you plan on getting a second set or rims, I'd go with the ET Streets. If you don't like the hassle of swapping tires at the track, then get the DR's.
One thing to think about is that if you run ET Streets without skinnies up front, the car gets a little squirley at the top end. It's no big deal, but you can feel it.
ET Streets are cheaper too. I think mine were $160 each. I'm sure I just confused you even more, sorry.

Don't you need to run front skinnies with the ET streets though??
(Where you can run your regular rims/tires with the drag radials....)

Will know about dr vs street next month.

Will also know how skinnys on the front and dr combos on the back work...........should be just fine

Keep in mind that the ET Streets are slightly lighter than the ET Street (or most any other) Drag Radials as well.

It definitely helps to run the skinnies (full CCW drag pack etc.) if you're running bias ply (ET Streets) in the back but it's not mandatory if you're a decent driver.

I was hoping the ET streets being 5 lbs lighter each and about 1" taller would provide more benefit. It looks like its marginal.

I run Et Streets w/ my daily driver tires up front at the track & the ONLY time it felt loose on the top end was if I dropped the rear PSI to below 17psi...and that only required some steering at the end of the run...mild steering....
I absolutely got more consistent when I went from DR's to ET Streets. I lost 1-2mph though due to the slightly taller tire, but ET was very close. I would not switch back!!!

When I had my 99 LPE Vette I cut a 1.42 60ft on both tires. Ran a 26x10x15in tire. They both hooked great for me. And yes I could break parts with BOTH tires.

I have done tests on that.........

My street setup:
HRE 18 x 9.5 545 w/ clear center +58mm w/ 275/35/18 BFG KDWs 52 lbs ea.
HRE 18 x 12 545 w/ clear center +74mm w/ 345/30/18 BFG DRs 57lbs ea.

Best so far 10.97@122.25, 1.528 60', DA -775

My CCW drag pack:
CCW drag pack rear 16 x 10 classic full polished with well worn MT ET Street 26 x 11.50 x 16 (1/32” tread) with center caps 34 lbs ea.

CCW drag pack front 16 x 5 classic full polished with like new Firestone deluxe champion 5.00/5.25-16 (10/32” tread) with center caps 33 lbs ea.
Best so far 10.87@125.42, 1.538 60', DA -790

So loosing 84 lbs of rotating mass gets ya about 1/10th.
Results may vary

Thanks,Dave
Our trip is 50 miles one way, no problem
At the track:
BFG drs or Bias.......15-19 psi hot depending on track prep/air temp
MT ET Street Radial.......so far 20-24 psi hot.......yep 1.49 60'
On the street either dr or bias I run 25-28 psi hot depending on the weather

At the track 13 cold first pass, 12 hot the rest of the time. I have driven them on the street at 16.5-18 with no problems.

ET Streets 30 psi to drive to the track. I go down to about 19 psi to start & adjust from there. Cars w/ a lot more HP will usually go lower for more traction. With slipping the clutch, I find it hard to spin the ET streets on the launch with a decent track prep, and that's with launching @ 5800-6400rpm's...
Others may differ.

With my ET Streets I run 13 lbs and have front skinnies,If you run skinnies buy the 8 ply and not the 4 ply,It is all over the track above 120 mph
