Help me get my 60's down
Hey.
Was hoping that you guys could help me with getting my 60's down.
I am running a 06 Z06. Car has K&N intake, corsas, and a RPS twin w/lightweight flywheel.
Tires are 345 35 18 Mickey Thompson on 18x12 wheels.
I have cut a best of 1.8 60ft with these and a best ET of 11.15 @125.5
I was launching at about 5K and that seemed to work best. Tried 4K but it bogged down. Was afraid to try anything higher than 5K.
I heated the tires before every run for probably 10-15 seconds.... i couldnt keep the car from rolling forward after that.
For launching I basically just let the clutch up and floored the gas pedal, tires didnt seem to spin but the best 60 I could get was 1.8 and I think I should be able to get better.
Any thoughts? Am I launching wrong? Need to heat them up more?
Thanks!

Try slipping the clutch more, I generally use my heel as the pivot point, keeping it on the floor, because then you cannot lift too quickly. Only as fast as you can lift you toes, compared to just dumping the clutch.

What psi are the rears at?
You should try to slip the clutch as Doug stated & go down on the gas quickly.
It sounds like you are dumping the clutch & mashing the gas AFTER the clutch is out, thus causing the poor 60' times.....
Practice, practice...

Tires were at 20psi to start, then down to 17. Never experienced any wheel hop.
I will try slipping the clutch a bit next time out and see what that does. Thanks for the help.

If the car was/still bogs, you should air them UP, not down....I run my DR's at 21-23psi and almost NEVER spin them, but again, I am on the finicky stock clutch.
Good luck & report back after your next track day.
