Default First dibs on my iPhone 3G 16GB

Going to be putting the my 2 year old iPhone 3G on ebay soon. It is 16 GB version. It is jailbroken and unlocked now so you can use with any service that uses a sim card like t-mobile and verizon. you can use it on at&t as well, contract free though you will need their data plan as well as service. It is running ios 3.1

They start at $200 on ebay and go up.

Of course if you don't mind or can get a new contract with at&t much better for you to get a 4

Now, let's say I have a real basic plan (T-Mobile), can I still use most of the features of a phone like that or do I have to have all sorts of extra service plans and stuff to utilize all those apps and such?
I know it sounds crazy but I currently only use my cell phone to make phone calls (and even then not all that often LOL).

Would ya take $20.00? LOL

Artie, already have it.

Marc, for $20 i will answer your question LOL

you use many of its features but if tmobil figures out you have it, they will likely hit you with a charge for a data plan. If you already have a data plan, no problems

It really depends on your usage.

#1 thing is the speed. if you are in there 4 or 5 times an hour, you will appreciate the new processor and memory..especially if you are coming off of 3G or the first edition.

#2 if you are on 4 hour flights like I am and are watching hours of video podcasts, you will appreciate the screen. If you are not watching movies and stuff on it you still will but not so much.

#3 Cameras and facetime. If you like taking self portraits or know someone with an iphone 4, ipod touch 4 or a mac with face time then you can take advantage of video calling. I you don't like being seen, and that is why you call instead of visit then not so much.

#4 Retina display or what i call marketing hype...it is realy really clear. Again, if you are in there a lot you will enjoy it...if not then not.

If you are using the phone like a phone and not a handheld computer, you will be okay not upgrading.

Yeah those beepers get the job done....do I really need to upgrade my cell phone or is my current one (below) still good?

Cellular. Like the old Panasonic case phones.

The beeper is probably a gun.

You forgot battery life. My 3g and 3gs never lasted a day (I'm a heavy user). The 4 usually makes it. Much better battery.

ps you mentioned verizon above, no sim's on verizon and no iphones (yet). The phone will work on T-mobile but on edge, not 3g.

you are correct...only gsm use sims

i am not sold on the battery man.. i think i am still getting 4-5 hours of heavy straight use rockin it hard. I have not done life testing. I get more frustrated with the standby. no way i would trust it for for three days
