Default Another hired gun does well in my Mustang

Last weekend was the AA Auto Super Bucks 25 grander and since I'm not ready yet for a $300 entry, I loaned the car out to an Atco regular to see if he could make some history and win us some loot.

Time shots went well. The kid was .004 and .013 with the car running 8.35 @ 123 both passes (1000' race).

First Round. The Terminator himself, Peter Biondo. I'm immediately thinking buy back, but the kid pulls it out. He's .007 and 1 above to Peter's .014 and breaking out by .008. The kid threw out the anchor at the last second killing .02.

Second Round. Don't know our opponent, but I believe a regular from Cecil. We're .005 and .03 above to his .018 and .02 above with the kid taking .008 stripe, killing .04. The kid likes to hold.

Third Round. Allan Glatt, an Atco top bulb regular. Allan goes red, giving us a chance to run it out. The kid is .003 and the car runs 8.345 @ 123 (he was dialed 8.39). Now things are getting exciting.

Fourth Round. Bye. The kid goes 8.36 @ 118 dumping on purpose to throw off any watching eyes. His light was .003.

Fifth Round. Last 2 door cars standing. My guy and the great Danny Northrop. I'm thinking it's been a good run, but time to get the trailer ready. Not so fast. We're .012 and .01 above to Danny's .011 and .015 above. The kid takes .004 stripe for the W.

Sixth Round. 9 cars left and everyone else is a rail now except us. The kid dials a somewhat honest 8.35. We tree the dragster .008 to his .025 but breakout by .004. Game over.

Had a great time and won a few bucks. Hats off to Antoine for putting on a good show.

Pretty cool stuff, I know that was a pretty big race too. I saw some pics/video of the dragster that won and some of their celebrating in the Atco bar afterwards.

Any reason you did not name the "Boy Wonder" Batman?

Put him in the Vette and let's see how he does against our CC racers

I kinda did in my last sentence. But he's just a local kid and I'm sure not many people would know him.

And what Vette do you speak of sir? I haven't owned one for a couple years now (guess I should change that avatar).

That is impressive.

In a car he's never driven before, he goes

.004
.013
.007
.005
.003
.003
.012
.008

Nice showing...

your turn.

Still an incredible string of lights and nice driving overall

What does a 9th round exit pay in a race like this?

Actually 6th Round exit...there were 9 cars left. Payout for 6th rd loser was $600. It jumped considerably in the 7th rd. I heard $4,000 but can't confirm. Of course by then there's deals being made.

Agreed on the lights. Delay box definitely makes it easier to cut a good light consistently, but not that much easier.

Wow, that's like what a 'finals' payout would be at E-town, at the NHRA Nationals that is!

I can certainly relate to that

Years back i made it to 4 cars and lost in the 8th round of a $3000 or $5000 race sponsored by DRUSA and got $100 Pretty pathetic. I think the recent trend has been away from very top heavy payouts.

Well say hello to the top heavy payouts in SW Florida. $1000 to win $400 RU, $100 semis, and $50 quarters. $50 entry and $25 buy back directly to round 2. That is it. Hey I can't complain with the car count down here. Tracks are luckey to make a profit. I do miss Div 1. Damn it sucks being home sick. Taking a deep breath and rembering that I don't have to move snow any longer.

Ralph I make it to quarters and got $30 on a $50 entry due to car count. Lost in the 4th round. It was an official 5th place finish.

Guys and gals feel blessed with what you all have up north.

I raced last week at E Town on a Wed. night.. they had what they called a $$ money Bracket Race. (Paid $500 to win) I lost in the 3rd round & collected $50 next round was the semi's paid $100 to the loser... Winner $500 RU $200

I just found out today they (E Town) are going to have that race every Wed. until they close in late Nov. This Sat Aug. 18th is our last CC rain or shine.. if it rains its called off...Ralph & I will be going to E Town on Wed. (Avoiding the Beach Crowd) on weekends, and if we don't go there we will go to Lebanon Vally on Sat. & run in "Pro" Super Pro" has electronics, Pro is foot break.... (same distance as E Town) but NO Tolls or Traffic !!!!!
