I am going back to the track today. (2nd time w/ my C5)
Just wanted to ask you more experienced drag racers out here, for any tips for drag racing.
My car is a C5 Hardtop - M6
Extreme Performance Nitto Tires
From what I have heard, it sounds like if you have street tires and want to skip the burnout.. you will want to launch in the low 2K RMPs.
Is this correct? And how fast should I left the clutch out?
Should I shift at about 6000-62000Rpms for each gear?
Any drag racing tips would be greatly appreciated.
The most important tip I can give you is have fun! The more laps you make the more you'll get to know your car and the better you'll get. Go to the Drag Racing Forum links for some in-depth drag racing tips that will make you more consistent.
I am an A4 so I can't offer to much on shifting. I had a C4 with M6 and can say that you really want to experiment with launches. Some leave off idle and some aroudn 2K. As for the cluthc release, a quick brisk off action will work. Experiment with that too.
You don't skip the burnout altogether, just don't go through the water box. Go around it stop and do a small burnout to get a little heat in the tires. Lower there pressure to about 25 or just alittle lower.
