Bill Fischer Sr has passed away
To my racing friends, my Dad lost a short battle with cancer and passed away this weekend. Some of my fondest memories of my Dad were working on his Corvette together and competing with him in the Corvette Challenge. He was known for having the most meticulous cars on the East Coast. As I made mods to his car, I would remove parts and hand them to him so he could polish them. He spent many hours with his cars on the lift so he could clean the underside of them.
He retired from racing in 2012 when he still had his 2001 SW C5 and closed his career in fashion by winning the race. He is wearing the white hat in the pic below.
He was unique and will be missed.
We are respecting his wishes in that he wants only a private memorial.

Eric, so sorry to hear the very sad news. Your Dad was a good man and a friend to me. I will always remember the many conversations we had ranging from cars to politics. I always looked forward to seeing him at the track and when he retired from racing it just wasn't the same. He will be missed but not forgotten.

Eric, sorry to hear about your loss. It was always a pleasure to see and talk with your dad at the CC races. He had that soft demeanor and air of respect about him. He will be missed but he is now in a better place.

while holding a small service for my late fiancee 3 years ago, her daughter read this short poem
I'm not a well-read, touchy / feely guy, but think of this often, and I hope it brings you some comfort, as it did for me

Very sad news. I have fond memories of racing with your father. I also remember a tough first round loss when he laid a teen light on me with his C4 and ran his number to end my day early. He'll be missed.
My condolences to you and the rest of the family. May he rest in peace
