Default Short and not so Sweet....

It is 4:19 AM and I just walked in after leaving at 4:30 AM yesterday...

I went to Palm Beach for a double points race...the first race was cancelled due to water seepage from too much rain the day before...the second, but really first, race began with first round at 9:00 PM...sigh...I had three time shots prior and went 6.849, 6.839 and 6.831...this was my first event ever using the trans brake...my lights showed it with a .155, -.015 and .012...

First round I dial 6.82 and win going dead 1 with a 50 tree...second round I dial 6.81 and win going dead 2 with a 23 tree...

Now for the not so sweet part...third round I get a mustang dialed 7.60....I dial 6.81....we leave green and I catch him quickly at the 330' mark...he is all mine when blam!....terrible noise, lots of smoke and loss of power...I pull to the wall and stop...they tow me to my pit...the motor is locked up and will not turn over....

We push it on the trailer and it is over...I do not know exactly what happened yet but will in the coming days...might be done for some time, I fear...I am hoping for the best but not very optimistic...95 passes on this roller motor...sigh...

Damn...damn...double damn...took me over 5 hours to get home with a stop for gas, food and twice because the rain was so hard the wipers did not work worth a flip...real bad storm...

Go to 13:46:16 at this link to see me blow her up...oy yoy yoy Papa'...

... and suddenly, staying home to work on the garage, and watch hockey on TV, doesn't sound like such a bad idea...

Sorry to hear about your car Dan. It sucks. But as they say that's racing. Hope for the best. Stay well.

Yes, that guy did double bulb me...he is a known game player...I did not know it was him until afterwards because he was in a borrowed car...I really wanted to beat his butt...sadly I had a fender on him early and he was mine...oops....lol...

We will be pulling the motor in the next 2-3 weeks...thanks for the good wishes everyone...

your problem is the oil pan failed

(failed to keep all of the broken parts and oil INSIDE itself)

Dan,

Sorry to hear of your misfortune but glad you got home in one piece. If it is any consolation you blew it up real good and even had it captured on video! Keep your Forum followers updated on the teardown and rebuild.

Damn Dan, you are definitely the most unlucky racer that I know. If you had a reliable car, you'd probably be a contender for the championship, but it seems like the more you polish your skills, the more your car falls apart

Good luck getting it back together.

Update on my bullet...we pulled it today and the news is terrible...window paned the block in the # 2 cylinder...hole the size of my fist...water filled up the block and hydrolocked it...forged piston ended up in the pan looking like two small meteorites....forged H beam rod was a pretzel...wrist pin broke off and a third of it is gone...aluminum head is hurt...much more damage but who cares at this point....RIP 468...

I have decided you only live once so I am going bigger...I'll surprise y'all when it is done...probly around April 1st...ooooh baby!!!!

Fuzzy don't do like I did and soup your engine up so much the rest of your drivetrain can't handle it...

I hear ya Joe...fortunately, I overbuild everything...I have an FTI glide with 1.80 stgraight cuts that takes up to 1200 hp to the wheels ...8 inch billet converter...extra heavy duty driveshaft and parts...built 12 bolt with full spool and 33 spline axles and c-clip eliminators...Richmond 4:30 gears...hopefully all will be good...lol...

You look at my car and think, what a piece of stuff...little do folks know that is on purpose...he he he

Good deal Fuzzy!!

I swore after I built my c5 up and it was stolen, that I wasn't going to soup up my c6 with more power than the drivetrain can handle... but I did.... again... lol

Sounds like you've got some solid stuff there... so long as you're not putting a mountain motor in... LOL

Can't wait to see how you do. Always appreciate the stories!

Sorry to hear of the catastrophic damage. That really sucks. Did you find the smoking gun as to why it failed?

Looks like a wrist pin let go...I was not going to post pics but I will post one...this is the oil pan when we took it off...those chunks were a piston...at the bottom is a wrist pin with 1/3 of it missing....sigh...
