TQ/Horspower Difference? How much to break 3-seconds.
Hey guys and gals! With the release of the new Ferrari 812 Superfast I had a question about engine Tq and HP figures.
Why is it that so many of these exotic engines have such disparate figures when compared to more domestic engines?
For example:
Ferrari 812 Superfast: 789hp, 530 lb-ft TQ
Lamborghini Aventador: 700hp, 507 lb-ft
But then you have the LT4: 650hp, 650 lb-ft
and the Hellcat engine: 707hp, 650 lb-ft
Why the big difference?
Also, the new ferrari has those numbers and goes 0-60 in 2.9 seconds at 33XXlbs. The C7 z06 corvette does the same 0-60 with more than 100 less horsepower and some more pounds.
How much horsepower/torque would it take to get a C6 Z06 to break the 3-second barrier?

Yep, an engine with 500 ft/lbs of torque has twice as much hp at 10,000 rpm as 5,000 rpm.

My wife's SUV is supposed to do 2.8 @ ~5400lbs.. I'll have to test it with some timing equipment but power to the ground and how the car and driver manage that is key.
