Default Friday is 406 Dyno day

After 3 weeks of waiting time has come to learn how much power my 406 makes. With 11.2 compression, air flow 210 heads, crane solid roller, holley strip dominator and 850 HP holley. I live 3 miles from ray barton race engines it made sense to go here. He has modern & up to date equiptment & talented operators. 10:00 am Friday we are ready to begin. On initial start up had a miss, I used my infrared thermometer to determine that #8 header was cold, found new auto-lite plug defective. Restart now hitting on all 8. Made a 5000 rpm pull, O2 sensors show way lean at 13.81. Rejet to #86 jets with 36 deg. timing resulted in 549 hp @ 6300 rpm. & 526 ft lbs torque at 5000 rpm. Moved timing to 40 deg. got a big surprise, 24 hp gain. 573 hp @ 6300 & 533 ft lbs of torque. With over 500 ft lbs of torque from 4000 to 5800 I could rent this thing out to pull stumps !!!
