Just got a 99 Corvette
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I want to keep it as a Pure Stock. Any suggestions on Gears stall converter tire size can I put 411 in it . It is an automatic and I want to keep it four bracket racing. I'm not looking to go real fast I am looking for consistency. I will be Towing the car most of the time. But I want to keep it street legal also.

I would put on a set of MT drag radials and run the car. See how the car cuts a light. My biggest concern is the IRS. I think the LS is a better platform than the LT1. Rick with the number of passes you make a year durability is an issue lol.

Melting Slicks
Good Morning Richard, I would first make some runs bone stock with street tires just to get some baseline runs. What I have done over the years is made runs and logged them after every modification I have made to my car. All mods should work together to improve ET's. But overall the most important mod in my opinion is the tune in the car. This will really help the car to be more consistent in bracket racing.

Best Combo
I raced a 99 vette auto for years and the best combo that work consistently was 3:42 gears with a 2800 Vig stall and 26 inch tall tires
Tried almost every combination you could think of and always went back to this one
Also beef up your clutches in your rear end and Use line lock This will help reduce heat and wear build up too
Its been a while but There is also something with the stock rear end if it is a 3:15 gear its easier to build compared to the stock 2 something model

Thanks Bob durability will be an issue. I race my 96 Corvette about 225 times a year if not more simple is better. Want to use this car for right now as a backup . Right now I'm chasing a championship at pbir. We will see what happens.

gear size
yes I think the 3:15 has a bigger carrier style
Also Yes I tried 3:73 with all the way up to a 4000 stall and the most stable set up was the 3:42/2800
seemed like with the bigger gear a got a slightly better 60 ft time but seemed to loose mph and top end power a bit
Besides headers and a good flowing exhaust you will get the best bang for your buck with the gears and converter
I think my best and favorite setup was those gears and I installed a set of z 06 heads and cam and ran 12 50s instead of your base 13,40s
it was a ton of fun to drive too .

Congratulations Rick. I had the best results with a 3:73 gear in Misty. Give Jeremy a call, he'll steer you in the right direction. Rear end seems to be the weak link in the C5. Hardened shafts, gears, heavy duty clutch pack and perhaps a rear end brace. I would also get the matching converter for the gear selection.
Line lock is always a nice feature to help the rear end clutches survive the burn out process.

Thanks Bob myself and Dino should be going down there either this week or next week to talk to Jeremy. I sure wouldn't mind to set it up like Misty. I bought the car at an auction and got a decent price for it it came with Borla mufflers and a air intake.

So far the only two upgrades I did to the car was a 160 thermostat and SLP pulley. Next will be the extra rims and tires then after that will be the rear end. Everything takes money and time so it's going to be a long process.....lol
